unlike the 2-time Defending Champion 2000 New York Yankees who sleptwalk through September, finished with UNDER 90 wins, then turned it on in October for a 3rd Straight Title.
Sleepwalked through September?

They went 15-8 in April; 13-13 in May; 10-15 in June; 18-8 in July; 18-12 in August; then started 10-3 in September......at that point they had a 9 game lead with 19 to play......then they went 3-15 to finish. That stretch where they went 46-23 from July 1st through mid September won them the East despite that 3-14 finish, because everybody else sucked. Boston went 31-29 their last 60 and Toronto went 28-27 to finish. But that shows what can happen if you can manage to make the tournament.

Anything.

The Dodgers will be fine. Arizona's got nothing but jokes. Last night when the Dodgers had an issue with pitch com, the DBacks announcers said, "all that money the Dodgers spend on players must mean they can't afford replacement pitch coms". Funny? Maybe if you were leading by 9 games.

Its a rough patch no doubt. But I'm gonna stick with these guys.

When you can throw out:

Game 1: Yamamoto
Game 2: Skubal
Game 3: Snell
Game 4: Ohtani

And then send Wrobo, Glasnow, and Roki to the pen.

No one in the league wants to face that.

The bats will get hot again, not all of them, but a few certainly will.

In the long run, this may be the best thing to happen to them. And its early August not late September or October.

WIN TONIGHT

Just to keep things in perspective.

We have a better record at this time than we did the last 2 years.

Snellzilla tonight!

I thought Snell would need a little time to get in his game. He was pretty sharp last night. 10 K's. They did need a walk off hit to beat a last place team. Baby steps. They're in a funk and it takes time to snap out of it. Hopefully they're coming out of it. A big 4 game series with Milwaukee starting tomorrow.

KC recently took series from SD and Philly, and we are facing their 3 best pitchers.

I wouldn't "poo poo" these wins.....its baseball.....

That call on what should have been a third strike swing really pissed me off and looked like it stunned Phillips too. It was probably the worst non-call I’ve ever seen on appeal. I kept thinking, “that guy better not score”. It seemed to rattle Phillips (which granted it shouldn’t) and the inning got away from him. It would have been 2 outs - both Ks - and no one on. I know I was sure pissed.

Glad they gutted it out. Games like this can be good slump busters.

Agree that walked really hurt him. His stuff looked good to me, and he has been good lately.

"Pretty sharp"? He didn't look like this was his first start in forever. It looked like he'd been pitching all season. Didn't he strike out 7 of the first 9 guys? He looked untouchable.

Muncy has come up huge the last two games.

Betts was on it yesterday as well.

It’s overdue for Betts and SO to warm up offensively.
We need those guys

Nice sweep, even if we didn't play our best.

Big ups to Lauer and Knack. Mookie is finding it.

Bush league for the Royals staffers to scatter and not help Freddie. C'mon for a last place club, help a guy like Freddie out, the game didnt mean sheet for them; that was scary. Im sure he will be down for a couple games.

So after AZ won their WS, they go and lose 2of 3 to the Rox at home.

Everyone will get up for the B2B champs but just look at what teams do after they play us.....

I saw those 2 guys moving to get out of the way and the one looked like if he tried to help Freeman, he could have been injured badly. To his credit, he seemed to be the one moving away the fastest! What's Freddie, 6'4" 220 prior to meals? The other guy made a lame attempt extending his arm, as if that was going to impede FFs momentum at all. Hate to see a guy get hurt but damn man, that's you're home park. Shouldn't you know there's an opening in the camera well? And for that matter where the fuck was the catcher or 2nd baseman? Somebody needed to be there to warn him how close he was, like outfielders helping each other close to the wall. If we're gonna assign blame, that's the direction I'd look rather than towards the suits.

Like this!!!!

Hopefully FF is okay. What's the result a day later? Is he out and for how long?

Rojas was communicating with him from 2B. Sometimes hard to hear when 50K people are there.

My guess he will be down a couple games.

Its still Bush league, they could have helped him out or others guys in that dugout. F em.

Lauer got knocked around his previous start. But that is the only rough game he's had since joining the Dodgers. Another quality start last night. He's been as big an addition as anyone this year so far. Can't complain about that one. Skubal hasn't been as sharp in his two starts. But we know the pedigree. He's here for October. He should be fine. Not sure we can secure the top seed. But its not as important in baseball as it is in football and basketball. Dodgers proved that last year.

I dunno. It did look like one guy reached out to grab him but wasn't close enough. I think we dodged a bullet. Coulda been worse. I did hear his body was sore afterwards.

I am not trusting Diaz at all at this point.

He can't hold any lead right now.

He needs to work himself back into shape.

Agree. Go with Closer by Committee. Heck bring back the Halverson kid....

Re-group Yoshi tonight.....

Milwaukee does not scare me AT ALL. That lineup is not good. Could they beat us in the playoffs, sure, anything can happen. But Id like that match-up.

Onto the next

Holy crap, the Dodgers lost last night? I turned it off and went to bed (about midnight EST) when Muncie went deep.....real deep....to take the lead. I was shocked to see Milwaukee came back. Diaz with his third blown save in 7 days? But he only has 4 BS total and he averaged 5 per season with the Mets. Still......never trust anybody from the Mets!!!!
