I'd like to give Wade atleast one more season. Other than the few games that got away from us it seemed like the defense was headed in the right direction. We held the opposing teams to low scores outside of those blowout losses. Get #99 some help on the line along with some upgrades at LB plus JJ coming back I think the defense will shine next season. I hope so anyway.

One key element in McVay's fast start with the Rams and all the success he's had has been Wade Phillips not being a "friend of" type hire that young head coaches make. So personally I am not happy with this move even though I do understand that his age, his contract running out, and the changes that are coming on defense jive with bringing in a new DC.
I expect Wade to go to Dallas now and help the Cowpokes start a run.
But anyway. They better nail this replacement hire.

Wade is a legend but I agree with the move . Question is do they stay 3-4 or go back to a 4-3 ?
Personally I like the 4-3 with bigger guys up front and putting more emphasis on stopping the run .

I liked wade .. but hopefully he can retire and spend time with his family or hired back as like a defensive advisor .. I like a 4-3 D .. I’m just not sure this is the off season we try and change it .. lack of fire power in the draft .. cap room .. may be issues retooling
Shocking but at the same time you had to know some big changes was ahead. Just didn't expect it to be Wade. I honestly feel like we will either go back to the 4-3 or transition to it.

I appreciate Wade for stabilizing this defense during the transition of a young head coach trying to ease in; enjoy retirement, shame he couldn't get his second ring with us.

I dont think our defense was much different this year than the last couple years. Every season with wade we had some games where we gave up a ton of points and then others we shut teams out. Only thing is is our offense was able to keep up and mask the fact our D was giving up points. No offense this season made the lack of D much more glaring. I really hope we go outside for a DC.
