First time I've watched her since she left Good Morning and I'm struggling with this format.... is she talking to other people or not? I kept waiting for the camera to switch to someone else as she sat there and seemingly had a conversation with other people but they never actually respond or show up. Like a weird one way conversation she's having in a mirror.

Anyway, I get what she's saying in the comparison to how much better our offense is with a weapon at RB. Something we've all known for years. Hopefully Kyren can stay healthy.
It seems she’s talking to her production assistant. I agree they should pan to her at times, but Kay seems to be consumed with her own beauty and likely does not like to share the spotlight.

The only thing Williams and Gurley have in common is they are elite. Gurley was a tall long strider with a good burst. Williams is 195 pound compact violent runner who punishes DB's with his short burst and no mercy attitude. Gurley also had godlike top end speed which Williams does not.

Both are great RB's but completely different in their personal attributes.

I loath talk sports shows today.
I feel like he’s more CJ Anderson than Todd Gurley

Kyren is a baller but he IS NOT better than prime Gurley, not even close in my eyes, a tier below. Gurley was MVP special with a chance to take it to the house at any time.

Yeah I remember a game when gurley went up the seam like a WR and scored a TD against Dallas. That aint Williams game, at least not yet lol

Meh, not a fan of Kaye, I'd watch her show if she did it naked.

The format is a mess, she needs a co-host because she's so used to GMFB she doesn't know how to talk directly to an audience. I'm also biased, never been a Kay fan because she always has a bone to pick with the Rams. She has some kind of connections to St. Louis and never let it go when they moved to LA.

Anyway as to her point, she wasn't comparing Kyren to Gurley just that the production has been similar. Which is true. Also Gurley is obviously a legend but in a way I prefer having Kyren in the backfield because he consistently moves the chains whereas some days Gurley would just run into the back of his OL several times outside of breaking one or two big runs.

I don't care for her much either. She likes the camera too much, and her analysis can be a bit shalliw nowafays. Kay used to be very good when she first started on GMF. The Rams hate was annoying though.

(I actually thought she was better looking back then too, before all of the plastic surgery.)

I think the important part and she's right, McVay needs a strong run game to jump start his passing game. McVay's passing game comes off that run threat. Everyone talks about McVay's deep strike offense. But what moves this offense are passes in the 15-25 yd range. As I've been saying over and over on this forum, the threat of the run does two important things.

1. It backs the front 7 off from simply blitzing the QB on every down.
2. It holds the LBs from droping into that intermediate zone. That is where Stafford does a lot of his cooking. Kupp and Nacua really work that zone.

It protects the OL both in the passing game and the run game. You watch, if the Rams can run against the Ravens they will have a legit shot to win the game. The run game allows the OL to attack the DL and as such it slows the DL down in their pass rush. IMO offensively that is the key. If the Rams can run with a combination of Kyren and Freeman for 100 yds they will control the game and limit the Ravens possessions, i.e. their opportunities to score.

I don't think the Rams can win a shootout. That said a low scoring game is advantage Rams.

Kyren is ballin his butt off but only on the stat sheet would you compare him to TG. Gurley was one of those guys where you hold your breath when he gets loose cuz it might be 6. His decline was sad cuz he could’ve been up there with Eric & Marshall among rams all timers.

I'd put Gurley up there with Faulk and Dickerson.
Gurley was that special.
Jackson too.

Williams is solid though and it's great to have a star RB after a few years of decent players.

Rams have been blessed with great, generational RB's. ED, Faulk, SJ & TGII.
Gotta wait & see about Kyren but he's definitely a plus-RB that keeps the D honest. GREAT vision, something TGII & SJ didn't have at times. I think he blocks well, too.

It's the current YouTube/podcast format. Other shows are doing this too where they talk to and ask questions to someone off camera. Shannon in his new Nightcap show with Ocho asks his assistant for stats and numbers all the time.

After thinking about this take and listening to some other podcasts.. the biggest takeaway for me is that Williams is every bit as good a fit for THIS particular running scheme as Gurley was for the outside zone stuff.

Gurley's size, speed and agility was devastating in that scheme.. but, imo, he would have a little more trouble in what the Rams are doing now with all the inside stuff.. "duo", I guess.

Williams hunt-and-peck with a jump-cut style is absolutely perfect for what they're doing now. His production is a hair under Gurley's best season when it comes to YPG and that's with a better YPC. That's some wild shit.

We KNOW Williams can't get a home run the way Gurley could.. but he's still getting impressive gash plays.. explosive runs of 15+. It's pretty incredible and I had no idea he could come close to this.

I'm just worried about his ability to handle the workload.. and hope they draft a slightly bigger back with a similar running style this offseason so that if he's out, they can run the same shit.

Not a perfect analogy but it's like comparing Dickerson to Greg Bell. Bell was solid, scored over 30 TDs in two-season post-Dickerson but no one will confuse them even though Bell's production was pretty good.

You could win with Bell. You can win with Williams.

Gurley (when healthy) and Dickerson were elite and were threats to be Offensive Player of the Year.
Good explanation of the differences.

Question for the group: If Dickerson had been paired with a better QB (only played with Everett for less than one-full season) would the Rams have been able to deal with the Niners like the Giants did? Be a team that would keep SF out of the Conference Championship and/or Super Bowl?

Wait…

Is this thread about Kyren and Gurley, or sirens and girlies?

I’ve lost track.
