Great, I wanted him back. He hits and I think the issues we had late weren't on him.
I guess this means that Quinten Lake will remain in the star/slot position while McDuffie goes outside?
I’m conflicted by this signing. I generally trust Snead and McVay, but I wasn’t very impressed with Curl’s second half of the season aside from the Chicago game.
From my perspective, he disappears during games and I’m nervous this is another Atwell signing. I hope the contract is broken out so the Rams may exit in the second or third year without much dead cap.

Can't be an Atwell signing when Atwell didn't get on the field.
On or off the field Atwell only had one big game for the Rams that resulted in a W. Otherwise, Atwell in his limited appearances didn’t impact the game.
That’s the comparison I’m making. If there are upgrades in FA or the draft I’d be more willing to go on that direction than just throwing money at a safety who underperformed in the last six regular season games in 25.
You can tell this front office/head coach has a plan and they are executing it perfectly. Stafford making his decision that quickly after the season ended really set us up for a great spring. Knowing that is taken care of allows us to hyper focus on everything else and really build the best roster for 2026.
Curl is for certain the best Safety on the market this off-season. Bringing him back is huge for the simple fact you would not have been able to replace his skillset/versatility easily in FA/Draft.
Happy to see a deal get done, especially with it being around the range in which I expected. We didn’t have to overpay for him to stick around.

Have to remember too that his run defense is key to us.
Kinchens is more of a "free safety".
This also provides flexible depth - if one of Curl or Kinchens goes down, Lake goes to S, McDuffie can then play inside if needed.

No one wants to walk from the Rams.
Good news! Curl is a glue guy. He's not an elite safety, and he's not being paid like an elite safety, but he is a solid, consistent, reliable player. You need those guys.
I'm glad they resigned him; you can bet this defensive secondary will be much improved in 2026. One more thing I don't think they are finished improving the backend of this defense.
This takes Caleb Downs out of our Draft consideration. If Rams sit at 13 they can probably have Jermod McCoy if they want him, or less likely Mansoor Delane.
It is going to be a WR at 13, and he is going to be a stud.

He was still our best safety. We can't fix our biggest holes if we create new ones. A better FA safety means potentially paying more and there's no guarantee that we get that guy. Also, I don't want to spend a first on a safety and would rather go with a vet and not a mid round rookie.
