Wasn't that one of the issues with Greg Robinson? I remember reading he spent more time learning rap lyrics than learning the playbook.
Yes it was but how he went about it was all wrong as he was obviously an idiot. I equated to how some of these NFL players are gamers. If you put football first when the time comes and focus on gaming when football isn't the primary thing that needs attention, then it works out.

By the way, only gave that ouch vote cuz that pick was painful as fuck for all us Rams fans especially after the Jason Smith debacle. I think I need a drink or 4 now hahaha

With the current salaries for WRs, that's chump change if he works out. Anyone signing him is obviously taking a risk. Not saying we are signing him but didn't they say Ramsey and OBJ were head cases? Gotta give the young man time to possibly mature. Anyone questioning him wanting to be a rapper and linking it to failing in professional sports shouldn't go there until he fully proves that. There's a guy that goes by Damian Lillard that raps and I heard he's pretty good.

Ramsey and OBJ love football. They love to win. That's a good combination.

Toney doesn't give a shit about football. He has said it many times in spats with fans. Football just means money for him. His rap career is all he cares about.

I read the comments he made about fans shitting on his album. He doesn't say he doesn't give a shit about football and says football isn't going anywhere. I'm paraphrasing here, but he says football is something he does but it doesn't define who he is. I take it as someone that has other interests besides football which is perfectly ok as long as he is able to focus and put in the work required to be successful on the field. Football players are allowed to have outside hobbies and other passions. The guy literally has played a partial rookie year and balled out when he did. He has the talent and obviously had to have some focus to be that successful. Is it possible that this rap thing becomes more of a distraction? Of course, but so far it really hasn't. His biggest issue so far is his availability and questionable decisions about not getting his head in the playbook. He's young and it's possible if he's surrounded by a better locker room, he can flourish and grow a bit more mature. Unfortunately only time will tell where he ultimately ends up.

At worst, I look at it a bit like the DeSean Jackson affair, where his base salary was about $400,000. less than what Toney's would be, and we get a 1'st round talent at the very beginning of his career rather than the end, and if he fucks up we'd cut him and absorb a very tiny dead money CAP hit. The only risk would be a short disturbance to the locker room, and even that seems pretty far fetched with McVay, Donald, Ramsey & Stafford leading the troops.

That's interesting. They'd probably want nothing less than a second round pick for him or even higher. A lot can change draft week. I'd only give a 3rd this year and a 4th next year.

If the Rams trade, it’s for proven talent, not potentiaL.

they will draft for potential and immerse in Rams way of doing it (we not me).
if potential works at least they know the fit is there.

Rams won’t give up any assets for a potential who may not fit

I hear you there. I'd guess the most the Rams may offer is a 5th rd pick which would be reasonable and a possible steal. However this probably depends on if we sign OBJ as well. Apparently the Giants are mostly listening to offers probably because with everyone knowing they want to get rid of him, they got low ball offers like crazy.

The fact they've put the 2021 #20 pick in the draft on the trading block says volumes. Either the Giants fooked up by taking him that high or he's got an attitude problem. In any case, who wants to bail the Giants out of that mess? It might be a decent gamble for some 7-9 teams but World Champs? Not so much.

Corbett was a potential talent trade and he certainly helped stabilize the OL.

One could argue that its a better gamble for us to take because we just won the Super Bowl. We just accomplished the ultimate goal and have nothing to prove. We have a stable locker room, elite player leadership, and we have the ultimate culture builder in McVay. Rumor is NY us asking for a 3rd round pick for Toney. If McVay and Snead think he could fit, I would try to trade 2023 pick(s) for him. In our offense I think he would explode.

If Obj is out of the picture, I'd be all over this, although I have a suspicion that we have an arrangement in place which will be announced shortly after the draft concludes.

Sure. You could look at it that way. The kid has PROBLEM written all over him. In our offense he'd be a young DJAX. We were 7-1 when DJAX was unhappy. KT..."I don't care if we're winning... I'm not getting the ball enough" . And just like with DJax, screw him.

DeSean came in as a WR4 and was unhappy with the number of overall targets, ... Kupp, Woods & Jefferson were ahead of him. Toney would be our WR3 if Obj is out of the picture & Jefferson was part of the trade. Toney would likely receive as many targets as VJ did last season (89).

Just food for thought, we could help revive his so far short career and use him as trade fodder. Snead would be estatic to turn Toney into four future 6th round picks!

Would love to bring OBJ back no doubt. But we dont know when he'll be back. For the 1st half or 3/4 of the year we are one injury away from our offense looking like the SB again. Toney cannot be stopped by man coverage, especially in a McVay scheme. It just gives us a dynamic playmaker who is 2 years younger and a better player than Van. IMO we cannot trust Van to make a big impact if Kupp/ARob goes down.

You never know. A lot of wrs finally "get it" in their 3rd season.
