JJ Watt's new extension in range of jersey number plus zeroes - $99 million over 6 years, including $51 million guaranteed, per sources

Watt becomes NFL's highest paid def player, surpassing 6-year, $96-mill Bills gave ex-Texan Mario Williams, who got $50 mill guaranteed

Well deserved, unlike that bum Albert Haynesworth. Wonder if this is the range for Quinn's contract, hopefully a little lower.

Doubt he gets anything higher than that massive rookie deal that already has him as the highest paid DT in the league. Besides, Mccoy has surpassed him by quite a bit recently and Atkins is still on another tier when healthy.

Quinn, otoh, is on a level of his own as far as 4-3 DEs go.

But then everything changed when Robert Quinn got a sack.

So the highest paid defensive player is on the team that had this years number one draft pick. Kind of makes that quarterback position seem a little more important when you look at what happened to them.

Somewhere out there Quinn is drooling.

The good news is that we should be able to afford that without much difficulty. So even if Quinn's deal eclipses Watt's deal by a bit because Quinn has another stellar year, it'll be okay.

I was worried his deal would be a team breaker. Good to know it shouldn't be.

IMO, if Quinn has another Pro Bowl year, you can be sure that he'll be after the same amount of $ - and I can't see how he can be refused the money...

Seems like it will be the blueprint for Quinn's deal - maybe a little less
No not less, more make Quinn the first $100 mil defensive player let the rest absorb the instant escalation to $110 mil if someone beats us to 100 we're in for a ride,JMO

I thought Haynesworth was the first $100M player...

I have no doubts, Quinn will be the highest paid defensive player when the time comes.

Watt is the best defensive player in the league right now, it only makes sense he should be paid as such.

If Quinn can replicate his past success, he will be in that ballpark, but Watt has a track record. Quinn needs this season in the worst way
