Regardless of whether Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham likes to block, he’ll be doing plenty of blocking with his new team. And he says he welcomes it.

“I’m blocking here,” Graham told reporters on Monday, via comments distributed by the team. “Out there the last few I was pretty banged up so midway through the year I kind of stopped blocking . . . . Now here, I’m blocking quite a bit and I love it. It’s very important for me to be a part of that here because that’s about 75 percent of the offense here, and when you have a back like [Marshawn Lynch] you want to be in there on those explosive runs, and you want to be a part of that.”

The other 25 percent of the time, Graham will be the guy we’ve come to know in New Orleans.

“Third and 10 is when I’m going to make my money and that’s when I’m going to have to be special for this team,” Graham said. “Down there in the red zone. That’s just what I’ve always done. I’m doing the most down there.”

Other than the blocking. Apparently, he’ll be doing plenty of blocking.

I had to share because the thought of Jimmy Graham being counted on to block makes me happy for some reason.

They might as well play him at WR because he doesn't fit as a TE there. They need a guy who is a block first guy.

I think he will be doing plenty of work with the trainer nursing bumps and bruises after he gets the snot knocked out of him by the likes of T.J and A.O

If they do that, one he will be a liability blocking and two they will be wasting his talent. So I say go ahead Seattle you are smarter than everyone else go ahead and do it!

So they gave up a starting center and first round pick for a blocking tight end? I'm starting to like that trade now.

Graham thinks he got banged-up playing with the saint's, in that Div., wait until he finish's playing two games against the Rams!! IF HE'S ABLE TO!!
I don't like to give the bad guys credit but the Cardinals and 49ers play tough as well... at least tougher than the Falcons and many of those Panthers and Bucs teams he's played against.

My thoughts too! But I didn't want to be the one to say it! So 'that's' on you Lazy!!(y):ROFLMAO::D

He'll get his catches, but as the games and season go on he'll be more and more banged up, which will make it harder to perform in crunch time.

Fine with me. There's no reason to think he'll be anything but below average as a blocking TE, and if it reduces his effectiveness as a massive WR, good.

Its only 16 games. But its still a long season. I expect Graham will be pretending to block as the season wears on him. Which could limit his snaps. They're not going to change their identity. If he can't block when they want to run he'll be standing on the sidelines more often.

They threw 48% of the time last year.

Methinks he's playing possum a bit.
