I see a very young player only 21 yrs old who might be too immature to handle being an NFL professional at this time.

First .....Rams/ Wade is in a position to spend some time on this kid to see what Jachai Polite is made off. Wade has a special ingredient that the Jets/ Seahawks did not have...... ex Gator great Dante Fowler Jr. who also had all kinds of initial issues when he arrived in the NFL @ only 21 yrs old too. There is a good chance that Fowler can play a major role in saving this kids NFL future.

Second.....from reading the profile on JP his basic talent & ability is very close to being a clone of what Dante Fowler was.....not a true 43 DE or 43 OLB'er, but a specialized 34 D Edge type player who only fits a few NFL team defenses. This past TC & Preseason Wade utilized small sized youthful Edge defenders who have current Ram contracts i.e. Okoronkwo under 6-2 255, Carraway 6-3 242, Patrick 6-3 242 & 2 yr starter Ebukam 6-2 245. Seattle runs a standard 43 D, Jets 34 D signed ex Ram John Franklin-Myers (6-4 283) to replace the under 6-2 242 pound JP. JFM is listed as a OLB #56 on their roster. All main Jet OLB are over 250 lbs. JP fits Wade's D great.

Wade could be setting himself up well for the departure of his best Dante Fowler in free agency in March 2020.

Mental instability is a very challenging. One of the biggest challenges is just finding authority figures to trust. I think when you're a guy as successful as Jachai was in college (1st team All-Pro SEC), who do you have to look up to? who do you feel safe to give the authority to shape you? to be vulnerable with? Who was on that J-E-T-S team that had the chops to tell him what he needed, where to go & what to do as a rookie? When you're unstable you don't trust anyone.
But walking into the Rams D room... you got AD99.... Clay Stinkin' Matthews.... Eric Weddle... all former / current NFL All-Pros themselves at their respective positions... guided under the auspices of all-time great D Coordinator Wade Phillips as well as up & coming DL guru Eric Henderson... and, as icing on the cake, Dante Fowler, a former Gator who's had issues himself but is now thriving in this system....
I mean, what better situation could Jachai walk into? if anything he might feel a bit overwhelmed, so the challenge would be to make him feel welcome as part of the Ramily and show him a roadmap to success so he can see where he will one day thrive on our team, so he can feel safe to fit in & not act out in self-destructive ways in order to sabotage a "too good to be true" situation.

I just hope that he can get help, speaking from the perspective of a person who has had numerous mental and psychological issues. I really hope that the Rams reach him, not just because he's a talented player, but for Polite's sake as well.

Well, I guess they think they can reach him. Let’s hope they can.

If they catch lightning in a bottle with this kid, I’ll gladly eat crow.

It's a longshot, but it's only the 10th spot on the practice squad, and he has physical talent to still help in practices. And if not, goodbye

Anyone know the details why the Seahawks cut him so fast? Was there a fight, argument, etc.? What happened?

For his sake, as others have said, I Hope part of the deal with him signing is getting the help he needs.

I'd assume that the mental health talk is speculative?

It's possible that he's just unseasonably immature and difficult to communicate with and motivate.
Yes, just speculative based on hearsay. Even if it's just a maturity issue, if he doesn't come around & start respecting a DL room like the Rams have, I don't know who he'll ever listen to.

I haven't seen his medical records, but the guy who gave me the info is very reliable.

Normally when a young guy gets cut that fast from different teams it's because of work ethic issues, and not being coachable, i.e. attitude / immature. From what I heard before the draft when the Rams had him in for an interview, that's the part that dropped him in the draft. He came across as immature. If he simply keeps his head down and puts in the work he has a chance. If not he will be playing in the XFL.

Take it for what its worth. Rumors I've heard from my friends in Seattle, it was a work ethic issue, something coach Carroll has never tolerated even at SC. Who knows he's a PS guy so it's not much of an issue this season. They are deep at OLB/DE right now and that is where he would play if he's moved up.

That's what they *have* to say to avoid ADA employment issues - you can't cut or fire someone if they have a disability.
Reading some Seahawk fans comments on it I'm gonna guess he did something to get cut. Usually Petey says he is a good guy blah blah we'd like to get him back but we need a roster spot. This time he simply said they were moving on.
