Ramsey is due 10 mil, 10 mil and 21 mil in salary the next 3 years (2026-28). Is there anybody in their right mind who believes a 34 year old CB is worth a 21 mil base salary? NFL teams won't take that on without huge salary relief from Miami. And Miami won't save much by giving another team huge salary relief. So the question the Dolphins brass has to ask/answer is, "can Ramsey play for us without being a huge distraction?" My guess is probably..........in the beginning..........but if things go south.......... , Their best move is bite the bullet and take the cap hit.

His contract is irrelevant past 2025 because none of the money is guaranteed. Any team that trades for him would sign him to a new deal or release him.
BTW, those are just his salaries, he's also due roster & option bonuses for an additional 10 mill per year

At the end of the day, the Rams will make it work if they really want Ramsey back in the fold. And if they want him back, so do I.

So the question.....when it involves the Rams and JR.....is.....do they want him for more than a year? As far as his salary/cap hit, he's got 25.213 Mil of signing bonus left that IIRC, is ALL on Miami. The 10 mil remaining in roster bonus and .4 mil in workout bonus would accompany the existing contract. I don't know how to read where those "options" listed (35.95 mil remaining) fall. But they go through the 3 void years, so I gotta think maybe Miami is on the hook for them. Either way, like you said, no team trading for him would take on that so a renegotiation/new contract is definitely in the offing.

Didn't take long for that contract he wanted to backfire in the team's face.

If we add him somehow the impact will be him taking Lake's job. He's an upgrade over Lake vs both pass and run. So I'm good with it but yeah the dude could fall off that cliff at any moment. He already holds his ass off and has skills at doing it too. But there's no telling when he loses that last bit of movement ability to where the flags start flying.

I think Lake sticks regardless. He can back up Ramsey but I just don’t see the Rams letting him go or not having him fill some sort of role.

Well I didn't say they'd cut Lake. But he's gone regardless as a FA after this season as I don't think he's ideal in that role.

Thats what this year will tell them. Like I’ve said, a team who trades for him is trading for him for ‘25 on a cap friendly deal and then after the year will look to either redo his contract or move on.
His play will dictate what happens next.

Maybe the bigger question is does he like LA enough so he would come here on a team friendly deal?

WTF is a "team friendly deal" in this current state of the NFL exactly? If and even if he is acquired it's a waste of resources. This thread will NEVER fucking end. George Carlin had a bit about this stuff. Look it up, because YOU won't , and YOU don't have time, and YOU'RE lazy!

Now that said,do you really think The Rams make that move ? imo The Rams have more depth that’s not getting talked about & Ram Fans will see it this 2025 season.

Sean Mcvay has not know this & that Jalen Ramsey is a loose cannon. As many plays that he makes his risk reward can be horrible.2019 niners will always be my example(super bowl)) with T.Rapp.Then is Baltimore 1/2/21,if Lamar(Ravens) is healthy 2021 playoffs might not have even happened. The Rams let them(jimmy g) back into the playoffs. It was funny the 9fans wanted Lance to replace him, only to have Jimmy bring them back..That GB (9ers)game imo was the reason The Rams won it all.

It was SCOTT who made that play to beat the Niners. How many times did Jalen Ramsey beat them ? I’ll take BYRON YOUNG over him 365 days a year. No Drama !!.
I do wish Jalen well, but I have a feeling we’ll be cheering against him ,and he won’t be a Ram.

-To think there was a rumor of him going to the Hags.Crazy if he reunited w/EJ53 & Kupp?

The TAXES ! IMO he’s just not a fit on this Rams team.Cobie Duarant is the better CB right now for the value.Q. Lake is a leader & #2 is the real Jaylen 2025.

But do teams want to pay the 2025 numbers? The Dolphins already paid his roster bonus but he has a 6 or 7 mil bonus due in week 1 plus per game bonuses. His base is low so that might be do-able. Get him for about 8 or 9 mil in 2025.

Too lazy to type it again lol
For '2025, His salary is 1.3 mill & he will receive a 19 mill option bonus, all guaranteed. He does have remaining escalators that could add another 1-3 mill.
From a cap hit perspective, that bonus will be prorated over the contract, either over 4 years or 7 if the void years are still utilized. At 4 years, it would be a cap hit of roughly 5 mill + the 1.3 salary, and the cap hit for '25 would only be 5-6 mill.
They would carry a dead cap in to '26 season of 13 mill where the rest of his contract is not guaranteed.
Which is why both sides would look for a new contract

Now that Jaire Alexander is being released by the Packers today do the Rams turn their attention to him rather than Ramsey? It would cost zero draft compensation and might have to play on a one year prove it deal to show he's past his injuries. When healthy, I think he's better than Ramsey at this point in their careers.
He's better in coverage but has a worse all-around game since he's not good in tackling or run support - things that Ramsey excles in.

And he's only rarely available. Ramsey is still the better option if Miami makes the contract palatable.
