I am in the minority but the Kendrick hate outside of all the bonehead moves is unwarranted. He isn't great but hasn't ever been the worse corner on our roster

I expect 50 OUCHES & 25 Not So Sure

I'm with you. That a 4th or 5th CB has the starting experience he does is all you can ask for

I think it’s mainly the penalties that bothered most people. He did get burned pretty bad a couple times but most 1st or 2nd year corners will. He just had some really dumb penalties.

Yeah those first couple years he was also asked to be cb1 which most day 3 rookies are not prepared for.

Who knows what went on behind closed doors. Here is my guess. They signed him to a 3 year extension before last season with little reason to do so. But only this year has effective guarantees, meaning after 2025 they could cut him, escaping roughly $20M/year for a 31/32 year old cornerback For that season). Them they were bad last year. Really bad. Then Hill started getting noisy. And (just guessing) Ramsey saw the future where they cut him after this season and he was an aging corner and stuck getting aging/somewhat difficult cornerback contracts and he asked/demanded for more guarantees. The dolphins recognized this would be folly for where they were as an organization, and thus an ‘agreement’ was reached.

what Ramsey will accept and what will happen will be interesting, but he has little leverage. After this year teams will look at the exact same things the dolphins did and, in my opinion, he will have to face reality, as all aging stars must. I believe the only negotiation for this year (where the money is guaranteed) will be a balance for draft choice and money. A 3rd rounder and dolphins eating half the money (his $9M option bonus due week 1, for example; they already paid his $4M roster bonus) sounds good to me.

He won't take a pay cut. That's why he left, to make more money. The phins have to absorb some of his salary.

.
That's the thing, his contract extension that he signed in the fall hasnt even kicked in yet. So the only money conversation is about how much Miami will kick in for '25. Assuming any trade wouldnt happen until June 1, the Dolphins would be able to push 18 of the 29 mill in dead cap to '26. So its just a matter how how much of an additional hit they are willing to take of the '25 cap.

Kendrick's a good option to have vs teams like SF who want to underneath the fuck out of you for 90 minutes. The boy is hard nosed out there in his tackling, he's physical which helps vs bigger wideouts, and he can look great as long as you're not putting him on a dude with real juice.

It felt like what we needed was a corner who could handle the top draws. Then the rest of these guys sort where they should be in favorable matchups vs most offenses. But I get how they approached it, by focusing on finishing up the front. It was the front where we came up short most vs Philly in the regular season. You can't fix everything in one season and there is some potential for some of these guys to improve still.

But back to Ramsey the problem is he's no longer the dude who can snuff out that top draw who has real juice. And I don't think he was that dude before the Rams traded him either, it was already showing. So for this season I'd take Ramsey if he's affordable, for a one year run. Going forward though in that 2026 draft we need to invest in a top corner who can lock shit down.

I’ve never really understood the need to bash Kendrick so much and with such fervor. Dudes a late round pick who team thrust into playing (maybe too early/often).

If he didn't commit stupid penalties, I wouldn't have as much of a problem with him. Some were really immature penalties.

Same thing I see. The guy clearly has talent. But then he does something that makes you think WTF!
It is his lack of recovery speed that makes him inconsistent. If his physicality can keep a receiver close he is good, but once they get past him he is screwed. I can't see any reason they still like him.

Yeah - it’s like he was playing as if he’s a 22 years old 6th round pick.

I’d be fine with him if he learned. He’s been arrested in his pro career for having an unlicensed gun and marijuana in his car, and he got kicked off of Clemson’s team for a history of disciplinary issues. Add in the stupid, stupid taunting penalties, and that’s not someone who is easy to root for.

Grain of salt, but his pff grade his rookie year was about the same as ahkello Witherspoon that year. He's got a really low ceiling but I have no problem with him starting a handful of games if a CB had to miss time.

Fuck that, he's our offensive equivalent of Booby Evans. We can do better but for some dumb reason we keep holding on to him. Witherspoon is way better than Kendrick is so comparing the 2 is a big disservice to Witherspoon. Unfortunately the problem is, Rams haven't invested in CBs in the draft so that's the only reason he is safe. Also Kendrick is coming off an ACL injury. He was already slow as molasses and I highly doubt he's going to get any faster. Put me in the camp of getting rid of him in anyway possible. The last player I felt this strongly about was Noteboom . Just ask yourself if we truly cut ties with him would it really impact our secondary room?

Maybe trade Kendrick for Ramsey with a bunch of money paid down on his contract by the Dolphins?

I don't care if he is only 22 years old. Most players at that age do not consistently make stupid penalties like he does.

After they make one stupid penalty, most usually learn from it.

He hasn't.

Ram Ts why you telling me to chill bro? It ain't that serious lol. I'm just speaking my mind in a shit talking, bar conversation tone lol. At the end of the day I just don't see it with Kendrick and apparently the Rams disagree. Sometimes they get it wrong and every thousandth time, I do too :laugh1::zany1:

Nothing worse than a Ram who's HARD to root for. Guys like Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson come to mind.

Personally I think Witherspoon is a little overrated here. He keeps coming back to us on 1 year deals, usually at the very end of free agency or during the season even. And yet people say how good he is. He's good on our woeful secondary but he's not that much better than what we have IMO. I think we disagree fundamentally based on your mention of Noteboom. Depth at cornerback and offensive line are very hard to find. So as annoying as Kendrick and Noteboom can be, I don't think it's sensible to think that depth players on many rosters are starters in most situations. Sometimes you need guys who can ride the pine and come in for a short stint. That's what most depth players are. If Kendrick is your CB 4-5 is that too crazy ?

Late-September. Game 3. Rams are 0-2 and at home against the 49ers. Rams rally from a ten-point fourth quarter deficit and take a 27-24 lead with :02 to play. Kind of a HUGE Game.

After the KO, the Niners have the ball on their thirty, with time for one play. If the Rams keep them out of the end-zone; and DON'T commit a penalty ... the Rams win. Kind of an IMPORTANT Play.

Anyone remember it?

Niners execute a short pass with multiple laterals advancing the ball into Rams' territory before the runner is pushed out-of-bounds (on the Rams side-line) at the 35-yard-line.

Aiyuk and Kinchens are pushing-and-shoving as the play ends.

A Rams' player ... Not in uniform ... comes-over and smacks Aiyuk in the face before being pulled-away.

One Guess on who that Undisciplined Player was. An Unsportsmanlike Penalty could have been called that would have put the ball at the twenty and extended the game one play for a short field goal to force OT.

I still have that game; and went-back to watch it to make sure I remembered correctly.

Also did a simple Google search ...
The NFL fined the Rams organization $100,000 for an incident after the final, wild, lateral-filled play last week in which an inactive player shoved 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk.

Derion Kendrick, who is on IR, was also fined.
