I’ve read some posters on other boards now predicting an O heavy Rams draft...

Some think that Floyd solves most D needs and that McVay is gonna go hard on O draft picks.

Ummmmm...

I’m not at all sure about that.

I still see big investments coming for this Morris D.

Weak OLB (a must have)
CB (might not be able to sign DW in ‘22)
ILB (has needed upgrading for several years)

And those are just the biggies which would require at least 3 of our few picks and/or FA (including scarce cap dollars).

On O we do have at least one crying need at Center. I’d prefer a FA vet, if possible. But if he’s a short timer Sully type then a high draft pick used for C is likely.

No shortage of wants on O, either. Beyond Center, most might be described as development/depth investments.

LOT
TE
WR (vertical)
RB (depth)

So I guess I’m saying I see 2 things.

1. Looks like a fairly even draft/FA focus between O and D despite the DW tender and the Floyd signing.

2. Once again, Snead has to excell in second tier FA, late picks, and UDFA. No pressure. Lol.

My prediction, if he's on the board, Rondale Moore is our pick. Honestly, I can't be mad if it is. He's going to be a beast. That said, I think he's gone well before our pick, but still in the 2nd round.

We usually draft for next years needs. With Hill probably gone, D Will being an URFA next year, and Long seemingly buried in the depth chart I'm sure a CB will be a high priority. Probably a DE somewhere to account for Brockers and Robinson possibly being gone next season unless we happen to retain Fox now. LT is always a need whether starting or backup and Boom and Whitworth might both be gone after this season. I'm sure a speedy WR and interior oline is on the top of the list as well. So I don't think it'll be O heavy unless players fall that way. Snead loves getting ILBs and RBs through undrafted free agents which are other possible needs but don't see us drafting one unless someone they love falls into day three. Either way, we have future holes on both sides.

Last year I was sure the Rams would go WR and RB with our first two picks. It has worked out very well - Akers is a star and we will soon see how much better Jefferson is than Reynolds.

There is a lot of talk of us using a second-round pick on a center, but if we stay where we are in the 2nd, I view Pete Werner ILB Ohio State as the best 3-4 MLB prospect since Bobby Wagner and Fred Warner. If he is available, I would sprint to the podium

Corner, center, LT & OLB'ers should be the major selections in this upcoming draft. A speedy return man is a possibility too.

Bunch of TE posts in here:
Rams drafted & groomed two TE's for over a year that has been planned to replace Everett & Mundt. The truth is RFA TE Johnny Mundt has a very good chance to return later after most of the FA'cy ongoings are done.

TE Kendall Blanton signed back in April of 2019 as a UDFA. Blanton has been on the roster ever since. He is over 6-6 has a wingspan over 7ft & comes in around 265 lbs. He is slated to replace Mundt. More of an in-line blocking TE.

TE Brycen Hopkins was drafted the last draft with plans on him replacing Everett. Hopkins is far more of a deep threat & more wideout than Everett was. Being over 6-4/245 he is a much bigger target than Everett.

Tons of post pleading for WR
When you have two WR's as good as Robert Woods & Cooper Kupp is there really a need? Both of these big-time performers need to see the ball in their hands as much as possible. Van Jefferson is a future star in the making & also needs the ball in his hands too. Then there are 3 other WR's that have not been seen in the offense too.

Nsimba Webster has been here since 2019 runs 4.4's in the 40...2 yrs being groomed. Last season the Rams added JJ Koski (4.5/40)& Trishton Jackson we have yet to see them play. The bottom line here, we have no idea what they are capable of doing with a QB who can constantly make accurate long-ball throws! Rams has all six of these wideouts locked up for a very long time.

The fact that they didnt even put an original rounder tender on Mundt speaks volumes, and Blanton is just practice squad fodder. I can only hope that something is either in the works or they've done an incredible job of hiding their appreciation of Hopkins.

I have to add a 5T to your list also should Fox depart. Hard to say what we have in Lawler, Copeland, Eric Banks & Jonah Williams, ... Lawler is more experienced, slightly, also has big struggles staying on the field. We have bodies, but someone who can pace Fox's 400 plus snaps while bringing an additional pass rush element, and perhaps expand on those snaps if Brockers were to be traded, seems integral to me. jmo.

River we are three deep @ NT........Sebastian Jospeh-Day, A'Shawn Robinson & Greg Gaines. All are fully ready to play as starters if needed. All of these DL'ers can play the 5 tech post when needed. Snead kept four DL'ers all season here as Rams so they all are entering their 2nd Training Camps. All four of them can play the 5 tech post.

On top of all that from what I know, we still have our veteran starting 5 tech Brockers under contract as I post. I just do not see any reason to utilize what little 2021 Draft value assets on this post. If Brockers were to be traded then it might make some sense to me but right now.....I would focus on what I ID'd in my post above.

Rare that you & I have a difference of opinions ......I need to mark my calendar of this event:biggrin:.

I don't really consider any of those four mentioned players as legitimate 5T guys, not in a Fangio scheme which I more easily adhere to. Basically, I'd like a slightly bigger, stronger and faster Fox, someone in that 275lb. to 285lbs range, a guy better equipped to also add to our pass rush, from both inside & outside. jmo.

I got you but I do not hold such a low opinion of the Rams Practice Squad as you. Darious Williams, Troy Hill & Morgan Fox all have Ram practice squad fodder on their resume too.

Speculation on that came right from Jourdan Rodrigue. She said she expects at least three Olinemen to be taken in the draft.

She seems to base it on two things. This draft is deep with interior Olinemen and a new Oline coach.

She mentioned Kromer guys. It seems she thinks some Kromer guys will be phased out. To me that means Allen, Noteboom, Demby, Blythe, maybe even Corbett or Edwards. I think Edwards is the least likely in that group. As we know most Linemen take time to develop and start. So it makes sense if depth guys are the ones to go.

Another point I’ve made before is that Carberry should have some insight into good Olinemen in college, seeing as he’s coming from those ranks. He may have players in mind to fit his scheme.

None of them scare anybody including woods and Kupp

I would not agree with that.

One thing I have learned that great hands, great route running & team first altitude will scare most all smart DB's. Speed is far long overrated!

I also suspect the skills & talents I know most of the above have will be accelerated & enhanced with the addition of our new QB.

Enlighten me why Jefferson can't be considered a deep threat. He took the top off at the senior bowl. Because they didn't use him that way his rookie season?
He was open for some TDs late in the season so I do agree he can be a deep threat.

But that said I'd like to see more speed added to this unit. We don't have anyone who scares corners. Even if it's just a guy who runs go routes and crossers it would help us. If not we're still gonna be fine but it would be nice to see more threat.
