I'm starting to question whether I want OBJ back.

It's obvious he wants to be back, and it's obvious we're giving him a 'lowball' type offer. Very likely 1 yr incentive based deal. Maybe 2 year with 1 guaranteed but it cant be for much money. At least OBJ isn't being a dick about it. He's just saying whats going on, and pointing out how he understands the business side of it. In the last two weeks he's made it abundantly clear he wants to be here in LA.

The longer this drags on the more interesting things get IMO. Because we get to observe OBJ's recovery close and get a clear idea when to expect him back. If he has an insane rehab over the next month or two maybe that affects things and we up the offer. Also we should still have Donald and Kupp extensions coming. Both should be structured in a way that creates space..plus I think we already have like $6-7M in cap room at the moment. Maybe we are chasing a FA currently and waiting to sign OBJ after. I'm fairly certain we will bring in another edge rusher, and after that signing and the two contract extensions for Kupp/Donald maybe we have a better idea of how much we can increase the OBJ offer. But right now we're probably hesitant to do that while trying to sign other FAs.
Definitely can see us waiting to see if we can make move with another FA prior to trying to sign OBJ. If we can't, it'll be interesting to see if the Rams wait until around the trade deadline to get something done since I think they may want to keep their options open there for a trade just in case we strike out on adding anyone else in the near future.

I would like him back too. But wouldn't he be considered a luxury at this point? Besides Kupp and Robinson, they have Van Jefferson, Benny Skow, Harris, and Tutu. I guess since the Rams lost almost half of their receivers last year, maybe it's for insurance?
Dunno if I’d say luxury, none of those guys has shown anything special to this point. Van has been a good #3 or 4 but in the SB when we were desperate for anyone who could catch a football, he and Sko didn’t exactly rise to the moment. As for Harris and Tutu who knows? Obj is a big time player who wants big time moments and we need as many of those guys as we can get.

Rams are smart not to tie up $$ they may want or need to sign a more pressing need. OBJ won’t be available until December so there’s a lot of potential fires to
Put out before then. Also - no team will know better/sooner how good (or bad) his rehab is going. This gives them the inside track on the appropriate time to sign him.

The Rams best offer won't come until the season starts to pan out with injuries and overall condition of the team. Odell knows this. No reason to rush and sign yet.
