I re-watched the Chargers game 2 times this morning, the first quarter was disgusting.

For those of us that were expecting Goff to look more like the quarterback we watched against the Raiders or thought Wade's defense would at least hold one of the Chargers 2 offensive scoring drives to a field goal, we got slapped down!

I was a little upset that Goff took 2 steps back after taking 3 steps forward against the Raiders. (fumble/interception)

The right side of the line with Havenstein and Jamon Brown is going to be suspicious when the real bullets start flying.

First string, second string, preseason pedigree or not, Sean Mannion looked like the more polished quarterback when the 3rd preseason game finally ended.

I will say that McVay seemed to call more of a conservative game plan this week for JG by not showing
(role outs/boot legs or calling any deep shots for him of 30 plus yards down the field . These are schemes and plays we would expect to see in the week 1 opener.

On Saturday, Jared was missing some of his key starting contributors and he looked off showing no awareness of the pass rush.

For what ever the reasons, Goff appeared to have lost his spider senses and pocket presence (detecting the pass rush) unlike what he had shown just 7 days prior.

Jared also looked a little bit embarrassed by his performance when I viewed his post game interview.

3rd preseason game or not, the Chargers game in the first half tells us very little about how this team will look on the field in 14 days from now vs the Colts.

Other than a cameo appearance practice game at Green bay on Thursday, McVay, Wade & Bones have 14 days from today to prepare for week 1.

All available starters will be on the field for the first regular season game and the preseason will again be remembered as noting more than 4 glorified scrimmages .

I don't think Goff's play was the end of the world. Yeah, he didn't notice the rush, got hit and fumbled but I'm worried more about the poor protection than about him getting hit hard and fumbling the ball.
And the interception looked like he changed his mind as he was about to release the ball. I don't know, shit happens.
I'm puzzled by the lack of playing time for the starters and all of these nagging injurues I keep hearing about. I'm not confident the RAMS will be ready for the Colts regardless of Goff's play.

I don't think people are aware of how fast Bosa got in. Less then 3 seconds. We are making way too big of a deal about the Chargers game. The

When 1's go against 1's...whether your "real" 1's are healthy or not...this is a crucial test and can tell you a lot about the players that will be on the team. Several of our units "failed" this test. Which leads me to believe several players that played in that first quarter are not legitimate starters....or are not ready for starter roles.

I'm actually looking at the Lions play the Pats....and a former LT is throwing Pats around opening up running lanes...and pass protecting...

And we're wondering what's wrong with the right side? Is so and so gonna look different in 14 days?...When the intensity gets ramped up even more. OK

I saw the same thing. It appeared that he was about to throw to the deep guy when he went "holy shit - Watkins is wide open" and tried to change his throw in mid-throw. Not a good way to do it but Goff right now seems like a guy who wants to do too much especially after a bad play on a previous series. I really hope he calms down but I am worried it is going to take him at least a year to not get too high or too down on himself.

Sounds about right, if this was a regular season game, I would expect coaching to have double team on Bosa consistently. He's that good

It is a short turn around before the Packers game. Expect many more starters to play the Packers. Goff will get way more time imo -- he will learn from the Bosa strip. Still some good signs after the disastrous first quarter.

So, how would any of those players have prevented the fumble or interception? Yes, crap happens, but those were both ugly plays. Hope they go away. However, that being said, I don't think the Rams were trying to win the game in the first half. More like seeing who can block, catch, tackle, etc.

It wasnt the hit that caused the fumble, Bosa stripped the ball before the hit. Good play by a good player, not much Goff could do once Hav let bosa by him.

I'm counting 10 starters of those twelve players....that's almost half of our freakin starting line up! Add Donald to that group and it's fully 50%....We don't know much of anything how they jell together in game situations, because McVay has kept most of them out and Donald's holdout...Week One will be an adventure....

You may be right. We might be overreacting here...but what you're also seeing a bunch of faithful fans who have been given a shyte product for so long and whose hopes have been raised and dashed every year for I don't know how long.

Our patience and goodwill is running thin when we see a game like last night We were expecting at least holding even with the performance vs the Raiders, and we didn't get that.

As mentioned that's not what happened.

I'm going to bang his mom for forcing the fumble.

I'm scratching my head here, none of you caught the adjustment? What happened between Goff and Mannion? Anyone, anyone?

LaFleur/McVay left a RB or TE in to chip against blitzes. J Davis acquit himself WELL. He punched his ticket yesterday to the 52, well done. Green is on the way out.

I expect the same thing from Gurley against a strong pass rush; to be left in to chip or block.

I don't know how posters can see the play any differently. Well, I do if it fits an agenda to discredit Goff.

the funny thing to me is, there seems to have been quite a few worse performances by starting QBs this week than Goff had, but I doubt their fans are losing their minds like people here

None of the starters are playing at Green Bay.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Normally the last preseason game is for showcasing players that are on the bubble to make the final roster. The third preseason game is normally when the starters play all of the first half. Hopefully McVay will keep the starters out against Green Bay.
