I just called Direct TV to cancel my service including Sunday Ticket.

For the most part, older folks will always have a problem with "today's game", in all sports.

Truth is - the NFL is better than it's ever been, as evidenced by the growing revenue and higher ratings (these fluctuate from year to year, but if you take into account how many people stream, it's pretty clear that more people are watching than ever).

NCAAF is the main competitor for the NFL - last season several regular season games got similar ratings to the CFP National Championship. Think about that for a minute.

Are calls bad? Yep. But it's exacerbated by social media and instant gratification, hot takes, etc. You just have to understand that going in.

Having said all that - I'm 51% into the NFL because of the Rams, and 49% because of fantasy football - so if you don't play FF, then I can see more of where you're coming from.

I don't care that I prepaid, I am not a me masochist.
I was not even on hold for two minutes
I was so upset that I was completely calm
My mind was made up before I ever called. What do they say in AA, "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired."
'

I feel you 'cept for the AA reference...have you read the big book? Such bullshit. 1st rule: "admit your powerless over alcohol". 2nd rule: "submit to a higher power (god?!)". As a practicing agnostic AA says I can make up my own higher power...well, if I go along with your first rule on a lark (I'm powerless over alcohol") then OBVIOUSLY alcohol is MY higher power. Vodka I think, goes with orange juice in the morning and Vanilla Coke at night. Yup, vodka and no DirectTV. I feel ya...~~~~~~~~~~~~

I think this dude is pissed about the reffing/blown calls etc and not directv if Im not mistaken

Spectrum user here and they totally suck. I didn't mind when they were Time Warner but how things have changed! And I would never pay for NFL football. Too expensive and can you imagine sitting there for 4 years and watching Jeff Fishers high school offense? They couldn't even complete a forward pass and could only score 3 field goals per game.

Well said.

i get my frustrations out by playing wreckfest and running over couch potatoes who race on sofas while i chase them in my chevy blazer or international harvester. very surreal in how heartwarming it is to watch the little white helmetted tater fly off of his couch or get rolled under the blazer or said harvester. i doubt this helps the OP but i feel better.

hey, wait a minute. i dont even HAVE cable tv. or space junk tv.

I've had DirecTV since 1998 (including the Sunday Ticket).

Been pretty good for me. I get the basic package because I don't watch that much TV... just have it for The Ticket, which ain't cheap but I'm familiar with it, it does what I expect and I'm at the point where I can afford it.

The game is watered down for sure, I will always follow whether I am 10 car lengths off or tailgating is a decision I make fluidly. I am headed to the game tonight after a sandwich at Eastside deli and will enjoy hanging out with the fans. My expectations for the officiating crew and our team will be something I adjust as the game progresses. I totally get it @Ramstien

I cant do the streaming thing. Sunday's are nuts in my house with the kids and I cook for the week. So I'd record the Rams game, and watch when time permitted. Often times I'd be real time, but for the most part I'd be on a delay, some times a coupe minutes, some times an hour or so behind. Was nice to have the control of it.
Oh well. With the $$ savings I have, I think I may try the NFL Gamepass, but Red Zone would be taking the surprise factor away. (Not that the Rams have been on Red Zone much this year )
You might want to give an ipad a try. My wife does all that and has her ipad by her side a lot either streaming movies or shows or some recipe vid or whatever.

There is always a website that puts together links to streams. Just go there and try them until you get one you like. I have never failed to get one of them working, there's always multiple options.

I get it and beginning to tire of it myself.

The athleticism of the players can still be s enjoyed even though it seems the outcome of these games seem manipulated.

Nah. I have a tv in my kitchen, not an iPad fan. I like tv, having the ability to change channels, jump back and forth between live and recording etc
I’ll binge watch Netflix on the iPad or something like that but not sports

Well, after the first series for each team tonight, I turned to my wife and said "The Rams are going to get blown out." I did watch until halftime, but then just turned the channel to avoid frustration.

I will say this, I have been a Rams fan since 1970 and I remain one. I will cheer the Rams into last place if that's what lies ahead of us this year and will then await 2020.

My parting note is that I hope the Rams pay more attention (i.e. higher draft choices etc) to the "O" line in the off season, I don't think it has gotten enough attention recently. Just ask the Ravens.

Peace to all and Happy Thanksgiving!!

What happened to our fan base ?

We sucked for over a decade, our expectations have become way too high . Maybe like our team , some of us needed humbling this year .

Did you guys think we were going to be the next dynasty? That doesn't happen alot fyi

I am addicted to watching the Rams play. But like any addiction I have to ask myself if watching is really good for me and my family. Because of this I’m considering cutting the Rams out of my life due to upsetting results. It’s not that I mind so much if they lose, it’s when some of the players look “fat and happy” after getting paid and consequently often look like they have little interest in actually winning. I need to see they the fire of competition in their bellies! We look pathetic frankly.

I have been a fan for 40 years. Probably for life. I expect better, though. Our team needs discipline and less hand-holding. McVay WANTS to be loved by everyone. It’s time for McVay to lose his mind and kick some asses. Bring accountability back.

Btw: I dropped Spectrum TV but kept the cable internet. I added Hulu and use Pluto TV and it’s wayyyy better.

Sorry for the rant.

@Ramstien

Honestly I've streamed games the last 9 going on 10 years online from one site. Especially in the last 7 years the quality of the feeds has gotten better to use an HDMI cord from the computer to whatever TV you have. I've watch NFL, any college sports, MMA, Boxing, WWE and whatever other event for free since then and I stream movies etc. from Netflix, Hulu, whatever else. I couldn't complain and don't think I'll ever go back because outside of paying 76 with taxes for internet service it's pretty free and liberating.

The biggest thing is finding an internet company that has decent consistent download speed with little packet loss.

Also,

1. Have good virus and malware/adware software on your computer. (both are free)

2. Make sure your computers wireless internet card can use the 5GHZ speed so you don't lag during the game/event because when more people get on it'll want to lag on the lower one.

I don't feel bad one bit because these companies price gouge you ( I live in S New Mexico and we only have a choice between Comcast and Century link for decent internet.) And they'll pay to keep competition out of certain areas to be able to do such.

If you need any advice or help send me a pm.

Amen to that!

As for DirecTV, the worst thing that ever happened to them was being bought out by AT&T - that's when their customer service department really went to shit. It was noticeably bad, as soon as that happened.
Yup, I just cancelled AT&T TV Now, (recently purchased from Direct TV Now) for the same reason, they're greedy bastards...went with Sling instead.

I don't know what the Rams did during their bye week but they may want to use a different approach next year.
