That comment is inaccurate. Location does not have much to do with getting free agents, otherwise small market teams would never compete.

Not surprised at the Whiner turnout. It's been that way since we returned. There are a shit ton of Whiner fans in SoCal. Probably only second to or close to Green Bay. Also, we have decent season tickets, and I would say in the 4 rows around me maybe 75% are always new people. That's only 25% of return fans every week. The seats right next to me are owned by a company and they give them to employees. I'm sure that accounts for a good percentage. Also the selling angle which happens everywhere I'm sure. I think just more in this diluted fan market.

Since many of you don't seem to get it i'll say it again since we get one of these threads after every home game.

These fans aren't traveling. They live in So Cal. That's the difference between West coast transplant cities and East coast cities. It's not about bad fans. It's about geography and climate. No one migrates East and brings their Rams, Chargers, Cardinals, Seahawks, 49ers, Broncos fandom with them to Philadelphia or NY or Milwaukee or Boston.

Deal with it and stop whining every other week.

This 1000%. I've been blabbing this to the masses since we returned. Folks just don't seem to grasp it. Add to that almost 2 generations who grew up here without a home team and made someone else their team. It's going to take time to build up a bigger fanbase here with FRESH blood.

I have two nephews who were born and raised in Seattle and have remained Seahawks fans after moving to Ohio some 20 years ago. I'm sure there are members here who moved from LA to the East Coast and remain Rams fans. Its just more people moving west than east.

I am sorry, but I do not buy this theory. What about places that received a franchise for the first time or had not had a franchise in years? The population in those cities seem(ed) to gravitate towards their new team.

There are very few places like Los Angeles in the United States. It's a huge metropolitan city where there is something big and huge happening all at once. This isn't a city that shuts down or focuses on one team or event. Many of those cities that received a franchise for the first time didn't really have any other pro teams, and if it did, it's likely one or two existing pro teams. Los Angeles has the Dodgers, the Lakers, the Clippers, the Kings, and then UCLA and USC. It also has the the Galaxy and LAFC, on top of that, there are the Angeles and the Ducks about 45 minutes away (depending on traffic). Oh yeah, there's the Chargers too. With the exception of a few of the teams I listed above, most have a long history and tradition of winning. In addition to this, we are one of the entertainment capitals of the world. Hollywood is here. The studios are here. Disneyland is here. Universal Studios. The beach. The mountains. EVERYTHING is here. In order to compete for people's attention, the Rams can't just come to LA and expect a following. They need to earn it. It's not fair, but there are so many things to do in Los Angeles in any given weekend -- and on top of that, Las Vegas is just a short 4 hour drive east and San Diego is 2 hours south. Oh, want to go to Yosemite? That's only 4 hours north east. Want to go to Santa Barbara that's only 2 hours north west. I'm from San Francisco and even I didn't understand how VAST the Los Angeles metropolis is until I moved here, and the unlimited amount things to do here -- on top of that, the weather is always spectacular that you WANT to be active. You want to be outdoors and play in the sun. There are so many things to do here. If the Rams are just okay, it's not going to capture anyone's attention. It's a great thing that they've done so well in the past 2 years and they have gained a following. People aren't rabid for the Rams, but the fanbase is slowly growing. It will just take time. It's moving in the right direction (this season is a tough one), but the fanbase is starting to care and going to a Rams game is becoming an attractive option for many people who are slowly becoming Rams fans.

Phoenix AZ. Cardinals moved here in 1988. They played in a college stadium for the first 8 years and regularly drew masses of opposing fans into those games. I was there.

It continued when they got an NFL stadium in 2006 but the amount of opposing fan jerseys began to slowly thin out as the years went by compared to those Sun Devil stadium seasons.

Even today you still see it though, because they live here. They moved here along with everyone else.

States some of what others have said about things to do, transplants from other areas, no cohesiveness of LA proper etc.

Which is? If you believe a new stadium is all that is needed then we disagree. It will get Rams fans in the seats for a time but won't solve the issue of all too often being a home game for the other team.

I want to add that the camera angles did no favors...all cameras seemed to be pointed at the Visitor sideline and therefore, the fans behind them. Better optics shooting from the shaded side to the sunlit side of the field.

Had the cameras been on the opposite side, we would have seen Rams fans.
 
Honestly sick of it. Fans of teams that live here and come to the game then shit on the hometown teams (Rams and Chargers) when they play. Why dont they go their own home stadium in buttfuxville and cheer on their own team. The freakin Tampa Bay Bucs had almost as many fans at the game than the Rams did!! I hope to God the Rams
turn this season around and next year just blowout every opponent we have at home. Especially Niner and Seacock fans. We destroyed SF last year at home and didnt hear a peep from Whiner fans
