Historical: 20 All time best Ram teams in order

Of all the points, I still can't see the GSOT teams not being ranked one or two (in either order). Those years were as special as it can get...my opinion. The 2017 Rams; I love them big time right now, but they are not the GSOT.

Nothing will ever be the GSOT, but I think this teams success will last a lot longer than 3 years.

I understand your thoughts; however, in 1999, we couldn't run the ball against very good defenses. Faulk had like 15 yards in the super bowl rushing---and did next to nothing in the run game against the Bucs and Vikings; that isn't football for me. also, to me 1999 was not a difficult schedule, we were never forced to run the ball. If we had to do it all over again, it mightnot have worked....

Comparing that to 2001 where we played great teams, and we dominated always...and we ran and were more balanced. I don't count draws for 8 yards on 3rd and 10 as 'dominating' run game. I love the 2017 rams because of their balance.

This ranking looks pretty accurate to me.
WOW, you guys have some good memories. Although I started liking the Rams at some point in the later 1960's I really don't remember much about specific games.
I mean, I remember the Rams punter running around at the end of a playoff game against Dallas to run out the clock somewhere in the 1970's...I remember Flipper Anderson having an amazing game one night in the late 1980's I think. I recall Dickerson running rampant through oppenent's secondaries in the 1980's.
I also recall the Rams losing to Minnesota in a muddy playoff game in the 70's.
But yeah, I would say that 2001 was the best of all the teams.

This 2017 team seems to be playing with a higher sense of urgency and determination. This is easily the most focused Rams team in the last 15 years. We will look back in awe of what they accomplished this year. We had hope, we started drinking the Kool-Aid, we believed, and they delivered.

Gurley season rushing 2017: 1,305; receiving 788

Stats are stats, good job. Faulk also had 5+ ypc......but draws and the like against befuddled defenses don't work against good teams int he playoffs...and he was SHUTDOWN in the playoffs.
They couldn't run in the playoffs (check those stats) because of their small guards-center....just not run blockers..Timmerman was ok in straight in-line blocking at best, and it takes more than him...Pace was great in the run game of course.

The HC of the Vikings told his club and the press that the Rams hadn't "played anybody" that year (1999). When we beat the Vikings handily in the Divisional Round, one wag held up a sign as Green was walking off the field "We still haven't played anybody." Loved it. BTW, Chuck Knox was a terrible playoff game coach another Schottenheimer. That's why Rosenbloom fired him and promoted Ray Malavasi.

Oh, I still remember 1973 as if it was yesterday. Rams were the best team in football that year--no doubt about it. We lost because Knox again did not have his team prepared at all starting with his decision to start Harris, one of the most overrated QBs in NFL history. Saw him once on the Tavis Smiley show on PBS and he was the most inarticulate person ever to appear on his program and even Smiley was annoyed.

I just disagree with your argument. The #1 focus of every playoff team was to shut down Marshall, which opened up passing. So, I thank Marshall for football at its finest, and also the 2 Super Bowl appearances. You should revel in the "game", not just one aspect of it.

Very good point....but Gurley has not been shut out n the Run game...even in the Vikings game he has some yards.
Stop Gurley and you win....no one has.....they won't. Our O line in 1999 was not a run blocking line....like the 1981 49ers very weak, but smart.

We are following an eerily similar path to the Super Bowl as '99. I As the Rams continue through the playoffs, however far that might be, the media will pick up the storyline and will run with it. Both teams had high power offenses, went from worst (4-12) to divisional champions. This team has a longer road to travel, but is also so young and confident that it doesn't know the conventional wisdom that says they should fold because of youth and inexperience. The Rams can do it, but will they?
