There are a lot of clubs looking for kickers this offseason. I like Blankenship but I think you're talking about more like round 4 or round 5 when it all plays out.

Hell I’d take him 4 and especially 5! I’m sure we’ll trade some this draft and we’ll end up with another 5th or 6th. It’ll be interesting what happens in FA come March and the new league year.

The nice thing we have to our advantage is a lot of those teams looking for a K have a decent amount of cap space to sign the FA’s.

Also, Blankenship is overrated. I don't know if he's ever made a fifty+ yard field goal, and his overall average this year was worse than the aforementioned Rohrwasser.

That's why I think he'll be available. You're right that Rohrwasser hasn't been consistent, but I'm thinking (hoping) that he'll be consistent with a good ST staff. And he's gotten a lot of touchbacks as well on kickoffs. It doesn't mean much with the college game, but it helps.

Sloman is another good option. My worry is that a team will pop him before the sixth round.

I'm a fan of Greg the Leg, but he's been injured two out of the last three years, and he's not getting younger. Also, a team could sign him to a ridiculous contract that we might not be able to match (people have mentioned the Cowboys and Colts as two teams who'll be interested in him).

I'm not saying I would break the bank, but I def wouldn't let him leave without a fair offer. Players bounce back and he isn't that old for a K.

Blankenship has the same career FG percentage GZ does in the pros (82%) and his career long is 55 yards with his other season longs being 53,50, and 49????

He also attempted 97 FG’s in college was is a great sample size.

Seems pretty damned solid to me, especially in the later rounds.

Yeah. I was thinking same thing.

Didn’t he kick more than 120 PATs in a row? He’s not short of touchbacks either. In college they kick off from the 35, but he seems to kick plenty deep. Which tells me they just didn’t attempt many long kicks.

I watched the first Seattle game yesterday and the guy has deteriorated physically me thinks. He needs to take a year off and let his body heal IMO. Those 2 kicks he missed were horrendous and his mechanics don't seem like the normal Greg which leads me to believe he's fighting through pain. ( or issues)

You saw what I saw all year. He's not physically right and it cost the team a playoff spot. That is too big of a price to pay and normally would cost a kicker his job. 40-49 yds is the money zone. He needs to be 100% or damn close to it or it will cost games. His kickoff's OOB is troubling as well. One is an aberration, but two are symptomatic of a problem.

This team can live with a kicker that is 60% over 50 yds. But less than 50 yds the guy must be money and that's the bottom line. That type of performance at any other position would lose a player his starting position. I like Greg but McVay needs to drill down and find out exactly what's going on. I have to wonder if Fassel was keeping things from McVay about GZ and it's what got him fired.

Offer him a one year deal and be prepared to move on. GZ was a 6th round pick I believe. I can see them using a third-day pick on a kicker just to keep on the PS with Greg's inconsistencies and injury history in mind.

It's just a feeling, he's kicked for a big program and weather was always usually a non factor and to be fair, we've had a chance to watch him miss some field goals too.

Again you never know with kickers and especially rookies and Blankenship's accuracy has been 77.8, 87.0, 82.6 & 81.8 and was 6-9 from 50+ and 23-33 from 40-49 yards and has been very consistent, it's just that he will likely be the first kicker off the board this year and much earlier than anyone else, so is he worth that selection?

IMO, Sloman saved his best year for his senior season being 86.7% overall this year and Miami of Ohio needed every kick he made and most of the kicks in unfavorable conditions, but again, you truly never know and Blankenship could end up being a very good professional kicker.

If you're drafting a kicker before the sixth round - which Blankenship will be - you want him to be better at long distance than what Blankenship is. He also has missed his fair share of 40-49s, and that also concerns me.

If I were to have a weird concern with Blankenship it might be the way he lines up for kicks.

Most kickers are very deliberate about how they line up... he seems very-very-very deliberate. That extra, almost robotic, effort... makes me wonder how head strong he will be when he misses kicks.

This is just an observation. I’ve not watched a lot of him live.

Crosby will be wrapping up his age-38 season when this extension runs it's course. The veteran kicker had a bounce-back season in 2019 after two-straight iffy years in 2017 and 2018. Over his last three seasons, Crosby has made 84% of his field goals and 96% of his extra points.

The three-year deal signed by Mason Crosby will pay the Green Bay Packers’ veteran kicker $12.9 million overall, including $6 million in the first year and $9.5 million in the first two years, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Crosby, a 2007 draft pick of the Packers who is coming off arguably his best season as a pro, was set to be an unrestricted free agent at the start of the new league year. The Packers made Crosby the first of the team’s unrestricted free agents to re-sign with a new deal.

Crosby’s $4.3 million average will make him the third-highest paid kicker in the NFL, trailing only Justin Tucker and Robbie Gould.

Depending on signing bonus and structure, Crosby’s cap hit will likely fall in the $4 million range for 2020, which would still eat a decent chunk of the Packers’ available cap space.

Crosby, the franchise’s leader in points scored, hit 22 of 24 field goals and all but one extra point during the 2019 season. He tied the franchise record for field goal percentage in a season and was named a first alternate for the Pro Bowl.

But, I agree it’s this range you would guess. Crosby had the better 2019.
