I’m mad he fumbled, but appreciate that it was an effort thing. Gotta be smarter though.
I'm paraphrasing here but Jourdan in his presser asked McVay what he said to Akers after the fumble. "Don't worry about it you've done too much good for us today we're going right back to you. You're my guy"

Rams had a rough week.. and emerged.
Blanton stepped up.. I’m not a big fan, but kudos.
Alaric Jackson is looking to me like a starting guard.

They survived.. and improved in the run game.

By the way.. anyone else surprised at how much success they had running left?

I followed via Gamecast and zNFL Redzone so I did not watch the game live. Positives: Akers building confidence, Skow finding a role, containment of Murray, OL holding it together, JR reclaiming his dominance, Stafford being smart with the ball. Negatives: damn soft coverage is nauseating, Akers fumbling again Has to be eating at him, Edge pressure looked weak again, Kupp is human after all - dammit I thought he was a terminator.

I know how frustrating it is when its 3rd and 4 or 5 and we see a ten yard cushion. It just becomes pitch and catch. But at the end of the game 12 points and no TD's is pretty darn good. The game plan worked. Maybe we need to show some patience and stop bashing Morris so much. He had them playing championship defense in the playoffs.

With that said, the game plan has to be different next week. The whiners and Jimmy Garbage will be content to throw underneath all day if they let them. I know the staple of this defense is bend don't break. But that plays right into the 49ers hands. Remember that 31-10 beat down last year? The first drive they threw short, kept moving the chains and took something like 8 or 10 minutes off the clock.

Edit: I checked that game. 49ers got the ball with 12:57 on the clock in the first quarter. They scored on that drive with 1.54. Eleven minutes on the first drive. Just running and throwing short.

What I must point out is that the 49er killer no longer plays linebacker for the Hawks, he's in horns. Jones and BWags will be shutting down runs up the gut and Kittle/Deebo trucking our secondary, IMHO.

I've said multiple times but the whiners haven't ran the ball extremely well with Trent Williams now without him it becomes that much more difficult however that short pass game can be used as an extension of the run game and wait for the big play to open. As I said in an earlier post Ramsey should shadow Deblow Jones and Wagner should be ok on the middle with little and some help but how will our corners hold up against Jennings who seems to save his best games for us and Aiyiuk who is solid and also could be a pest. This isn't the Arizona current receiver core. Hopefully we can can an ineffective Jimmy because that run game is negated. Having said all that the offense will have to wake up make plays and not turn it over.

It also killed me when the whiners running back or dweebo gets hit in the backfield and they still wind up with a 7 yard gain. I'm assuming Bobby Wagner won't allow that to happen.

But if we just tighten up that outside coverage on third downs, I can see us shutting down the whiners. It just kills me seeing the pitch and catch for easy first downs. Then those drives turn into 15 play 9 minute drives that result in soul sucking TDs.

Morris tightened it up in the NFCCG but why wait until then? Let's bury the whiners now and get ratboy fired.
