@blackbart The discussion was on seasons. Moving the goalposts to talk about games is disingenuous and makes the prior discussion meaningless. The team has less maneuverability and fewer options after problems in game 6 than they do during the off season. It's asinine and nonsensical to suggest that McVay should have made sweeping roster and coaching changes (not that you've said that explicitly, but it would be required in order to not start a "new trend line") mid season. Regarding the season as the smallest unit in which we can judge coaching staff and roster assembly, you can't call one data point a trend line. Simply stating that one season is 17 games doesn't suddenly give you 17 data points. It's still one season worth of coaching staff and roster decisions. How far can we go with that logic? Each game had 4 quarters so can we say there's 68 data points in regards to coaching staff and roster assembly? Ridiculous.

A year is not made up of a single instance of anything. Playing holier than thou as if you’re the only one who understands statistical analysis is dumb. There are a lot of very smart people on this board.

So do we define his career by the 5 successful years or the single down year where seemingly everything that could go wrong, did?
The coaching staff as a whole whiffed in 2022. Including McVay but he can’t or didn’t fire himself. But I expect him to be totally dialed in with his coaching hires for next year. Even if it’s the spare La Fleur bro.

Jets fans have mixed feelings about seeing Mike LaFleur leave.

They can't quite decide if the failure was due to MLF or to the organization as a whole.

But man, that fanbase is bitter and beaten down....

Idk if I'd take the opinions of another internet message board seriously.

Well there goes that HC from Denver (Hackett)Paul jr. to the JETS

Rams were 5-12 while trying to defend a SB championship.

That’s 17 data points.

Not all problems were just the injuries.

Yeah - but to think that record wasn’t self inflicted by choice would be a FARCE

Yeah? When you trot out 12 diff OL combos in the first 12 weeks, which ultimately led to your QB and top WR getting hurt, it pretty much was an injury issue.

No team survives losing 7 of their top 8 OL for long stretches of the season.

BTW, Tampa was wining about playing 4 diff OL combos. Think about that.

And not even mentioning secondary injury issues, losing both starting DTs (including Donald) etc...
