We should have gotten a better pick. Snead always gets fleeced on trading away players pick wise. Where the Rams make up for it is that they draft very well with those late picks more often than not lately. Unfortunately the pick isn't until 2026 which is terrible as it doesn't help us anytime soon. We lost depth at the LB position in case of injury. With that said, I get trading him away if he became a problem but it can still very well can bite us in the ass. Time will ultimately tell.I think there's a difference between.. and I'm not accusing you.. of.. :
"This is dumb they got fleeced"
"I don't understand this move at all"
"I don't like this move"
It's the over-the-top responses criticizing the move as a failure before we know anything on the other end... especially when we're talking about an organization that is very, very successful.
I don't fully buy that. Players don't always pick a team because they see you do right by players. They more often than not go after the money. It's a sad a true fact in the NFL. The players only have a finite amount of years to cash in so that being the top determining factor the majority of the time is also understandable. Now with that said, it will from time to time help us attract players, but we still gotta pay up lolI agree the Ramsey haul wasn't great. And I agree there is some validity to just focusing on return rather than what a player does with their new team.
Staying with your analysis, how do you factor in the intangibles the Rams clearly prioritize? They wanted to do right by the player. Whit just said the Rams have a rep for taking care of players that earn it. Now, they've developed a rep for doing right by players who they're trading away. I believe Colin recently said that the Rams have developed a rep as possibly the top destination for players.
If accepting a pathetic haul is part of building the reputation of being a top players destination, is it worth it?
This has at least brought the entertainment of seeing Big Whit put that youtube "content creator" Jake Ellen in his place after he went on another unprofessional rant about a move Rams made on twitter. Then Jake responded to Big Whit about how he was doing this before Whit was a Ram as that somehow gave him more credibility than a hall of fame super bowl winner and then deleted it after he got flak. Which of course got reposted by some other competing "content creator" and Big Whit called him out again "this isn't a video game" lol. Jake still hasn't learned his lesson I see.

So good reading Whit put that clown in his place.
No doubt. Clown with a mic. Zero clue or insight with the Rams or football in general.
Also I love how Whit looks out for the Rams. Truth is with all this kind of stuff you can spin it either way if you wish, but there is no doubt the Rams have earned the benefit of the doubt.
One thing that I see as a common thread among the takes that are most distressed is this thought that Jones is a great ILB. He's a good starter at ILB. Solid range for the position but not the elite level type that the Rams always take care of. So when that is the case you are prone to a business decision, and the Rams don't fuck around in that regard. No matter how we slice this issue it comes down to the nuts and bolts of that first I think. They were planning on letting him play it out prior to all this BS for that reason.
At some point the details will shake out on who did what. I like Den's suggestion above, but theories aside on details he is quite similar to Woody in that he is a great teammate and all that, but he felt he deserved more while the Rams knew he was replaceable and didn't want to hurt the team by paying him. Onwards and upwards.
What should they have gotten for him? And whom should have given it?We should have gotten a better pick. Snead always gets fleeced on trading away players pick wise. I don’t recall seeing McVay look this pissed. He can’t give a concrete reason without negatively affecting Jones. The man is tense and clearly unhappy
Reeder is starting
I will be amazed if there is no drop off between him and Jones so it’s probably only a matter of time before the Speights era begins

Well you need to look deeper than that.Keep thinking, but Speights will fill a role. His special teams skills are first & foremost this year. The Rams want Speights in that role. There were many reasons all told, granted, but I think they cleared out the vet to allow it to happen.
Probably a collection of shit that led to the actual decision but boil it down it's the oldest story in the NFL. Younger and cheaper baby.
The cult Lol I haven't been watching that channel this year as much as I have in the past and the few times I tuned in I wasn't impressed. I can only take so much filler and I don't have the time to watch a channel try to stretch to 20 minutes what they can say in under 5. In stark contrast I liked what I saw with Locked On the other day and they will be my Rams source when going the YT route. That X nonsense just rubbed many of us the wrong way and for me it was the final straw and the camel is on IR.The EllenBooger Cult that was going on within ROD for a while was quite shocking and pretty pathetic when it happened not to long ago here.
People grasping at anything to try and be apart of something and ‘know’ somebody that has ‘inside’ information.
What they blindly didn’t realize is that ego centric clown with a mic was full of shit with his illusionist act that he was some sort of squishy faced prodigy.
Big Whit seen through his BS right away and tore him a new asshole.
And for Booger to have the audacity and question Big Whits knowledge like he’s somebody…. The fucking arrogance you have to have..
For those here that were-are part of the Cult, hope this shows you the other side of that Fake Snake Oil Salesman.
Just think Todd Gurley as an example. It cost The Rams, but Jones wasn’t going to break the bank. -Rumor is knee concerns & not worth locking up this year.Good decision. Jones gets wish. Rams do what is best for the team.

Well Mcvay didn’t throw Ernest Jones under the bus,but there was a post from his side that got taken down.McVay looked too pissed for it to have been just the injury. I really think EJ or his agent or both, did or said something that made McVay say "fuck this I'm done". I don't think we'll ever know for sure though.
I POSTED here pretty quickly that he had lost his CRAP!! Forgot the name of his site(Dugout report),but he went from Live to Bleacher report!! He was talking that crap for 2 days. The EllenBooger Cult that was going on within ROD for a while was quite shocking and pretty pathetic when it happened not to long ago here.

I think you're giving that guy way too much credit. Cult leaders are usually pretty charismatic. The EllenBooger Cult that was going on within ROD for a while was quite shocking and pretty pathetic when it happened not to long ago here.
