Havenstein has pretty much tackled every test we've asked from him solidly. There's a lot more deficiencies on our team that warrant our worry rather than sitting around anticipating failure of somebody who hasn't even given us reasonable doubt yet.

Especially since there is a backup who just needs some time to be ready in Battle.

Nothing against Free, but besides the pick that would be traded for him, getting him would mean that an OL the Rams drafted this year would end up being cut too. If the Rams were to trade for an OL, it would pretty much need to be a center, imo, IF Fisher decides that none of the ones on the roster will cut it.

I like to think our Oline will hold up, but then I remember we have to play the entire AFC North and also The hawks and cards. This will be a HUGE test for them.
Agreed...But hopefully it has a positive effect on them by facing good competition they can grow as a unit.

I was listening to Nate Newton and two other Cowboys writers after those workouts with the Rams and they were concerned about whether or not they even had a backup swing OT for Smith and Free.

They were concerned that no one had stepped up yet and that it would be too much for Collins to go the OG and OT route (Hmm..Greg Robinson?) In fact, during the second day of those practices, they said it looked like Collins had already hit the wall as he was struggling at OG that day.

Yeah, Doug Free is not a good Ram fit.

For one thing, where would he play?

Another thing, @007 said that we have zero OL depth. Not true.

We have lots of depth. Our problem is that it's unproven depth. But I would prefer by a helluva lot to roll with our youngsters (plus Reynolds) than bring in an over priced vet with a low ceiling like Free.

I looked at Saffolds replacement depth guy. Yikes! This team deserves better.

If you're talking about Washington, I agree, 007. We definitely deserve better.

But I'm not sure we even keep him. He's on the bubble, at best.

Don't forget that there are other pieces that might be backups at LG.

For example, one of Barnes, Jones, or Rhaney? Whomever doesn't win the starting C job. Reynolds, Donnal, Wichmann, or ????

Maybe another team's camp cut? Or a minor trade?

Something tells me that we are going to be revisiting threads like this halfway through season after watching Foles get lit up behind a porous, inexperienced Oline.

Of course, I hope I am wrong, but I see them getting victimized, and I see it costing us a game(s).
