Just curious if the Rams might be looking to upgrade some of their Assistant Coaching positions. Seems like there will be some pretty good Candidates/Options available soon!

If Jay Gruden wanted to be a guy to whisper in McVay's ear during the game about playcalling and also help with identifying tendencies and such, I'd be good with that.
This right here. And I would be shocked if this weren't already the plan.

If I had my druthers I'd thank Coach Phillips for his service. I'd promote Coach Pleasant to DC. If anyone inside or outside of the organization, he deserves it.

IMO the Browns will go after him for the HC position. The Browns have a ton of young talent so it'll be a very tempting job for any fired HC and Gruden would be a great fit. Especially with Baker Mayfield and those weapons on offense.

Rivera is going to hook up with the Redskins. Very, very bad move IMO.

The rest of the coaches fired so far aren't worth much. I wouldn't want any of them.

I like Bill Callahan as Offensive Coordinator, not calling the plays similar to LaFleur, but keeping McVay on track and overseeing the running game too.

I’ve had a tough time considering Callahan for anything due to his stint with the Raiders and maybe throwing that Super Bowl due to his issues with the org which were filled with mad drama.

That said, he’s been a solid coordinator since.

Waiting to see what happens in Dallas but not a lot right now.

If Wade Phillips retires or is let go, I really like Brent Venable from Clemson. Even though Clemson won the National Championship last season, they had (4) First Rnd Draft picks on the D-line ; it was hard to judge how much of their success was his coaching and scheme. Now, a year later, they are playing in the National Championship game again with only 1 or 2 household names on the defense. There are only 2 Seniors of the starting 11 on "D". Of any College coaches, he would be my first choice.

You're taking half of his job, the more prestigious half along with Waldron's, and they're going to be ok with that?
If they understand what the problem/solution is and want to win, then they should be on board with whatever it takes to bring the Lombardi to LA

Not sure I fire Waldron and look for a new QB Coach bring in Callahan as OC & return Kromer to OL Coach the title that he held when LaFleur was here.

So lets follow your hypothetical a bit. You're demoting your OLine coach and your QB coach. Both had a taste of a bigger role. They sticking around or do coaches ego's win out and they say no thanks fire me. Now you're a 3rd year in a row getting a new QB coach and you're swapping OLine coach too. I get the thought that McVay needs an assistant under him as a full blown OC, though I disagree, but the real issue was the players put on the OLine. That one thing changed the offense and as a result IMO changed how McVay ran the games. With that in mind I don't see a need to blow up the offensive coaching staff. Just my 2 cents and playing a hypothetical game with you.

Now, they might have figured it out, but I believe there will be changes to the coaching staff and IMO, bringing in Bill Callahan would be an upgrade and I do believe you could talk with Kromer and ask him to go back as Offensive Line Coach because we are bringing in someone to oversee the offense and we are no longer going to separate the positions of running game coordinator & passing game coordinator.

I inform Shane Waldron that we are going in another direction and have him look elsewhere and either promote from within with Jedd Fisch or Assistant QB Coach Zac Robinson. I have not been overly impressed with Waldron and Callahan would be a major improvement. As to Kromer, not sure how he would take it, but if you're looking to bring in an OC, someone has to be demoted or be reassigned, it happens all the time with coaching staffs. Now I don't think Kromer leaves because of the title of run game coordinator being removed, I think he understands you want to bring in someone to focus on both aspects of the offense.

You might be thinking because Callahan's background is offensive line, that Kromer might take exceptions to that, but again, I hope he doesn't. Anyway I understand it's hypothetical, but IMO, the run game was an issue and with Callahan on board being a former Head Coach at both the NFL & Collegiate level, it might take some things off of McVay's plate so he can focus in other areas of the team too besides calling plays. Again totally hypothetical and i understand you're playing devil's advocate in a way, but I do believe that having LaFleur was better than having two in Kromer & Waldron IMHO.

I totally get what you're saying and I have two issues with it or rather things that I disagree about it.

First is as I mentioned before I don't think you'll get Kromer to take a step back. You promoted him and after one year you're going to demote him again and want to keep him around. I just can't see him agreeing to that.

Second thing is that you can convince Callahan to come in for basically a nothing position. McVay isn't going to give up play calling or have somebody else come in and design and implement the offense and the game plan. That's what an OC does which is why he has run and pass game coordinators. They're glorified position coaches that helps the OC/HC run things. Perhaps Waldron becomes the voice people think McVay needs but I don't think we'll see somebody with an OC, or in Callahan's case both that and a HC, background come in to be a mouth piece for McVay.

I understand the line of thought regarding Mr. Callahan but say we stick with Kromer and give a hard pass to Callahan. I am definitely on board with grabbing Jay Gruden as our new OC however. Also we keep Waldron as QB coach as I am more inclined to send Jared back to Tom House's camp for some fine tuning on his throwing and footwork techniques.

Just my .02

IMO there is nobody out there that just got fired that is worthwhile that is taking anything other than a HC job.

I think you guys are delusional.
