so has anyone thought about bringing in derek carr as the pssible backup to matthew?

i was just reading an article, and they mentioned possibilities, and one was carr...

honestly, i would take derek over jimmy...

at least with carr our season wouldn't be over with a qb injury...

I'm fine with getting through camp and preseason and seeing where we're at. While I have no faith in Bennett it does seem like he's taken a step in his ability in this offense and there's still a small lane for Simpson to grab QB 2 by start of season.

If Simpson ends up our #2 because Bennett ends up blowing, I'd be all for signing a vet #2 QB. No way we should thrust someone even that much more untested as Simpson into the mix. Simpson shouldn't play this year unless it's in garbage time.

I think Bennett started to take a step last offseason. He played good in one of the preseason games and great in the other.

The other thing I’ll say about Stetson is the kid is just a gamer. He had more pressure on him to win at Georgia than just about any collegiate QB over the last 15 years. He had the whole UGA fanbase clamoring for the coaching staff to start one of the other 5 star QBs on the roster (just like what will happen here with Ty if Stafford goes down). And he went out and won big game after big game after big game. It sounds crazy but he will be less nervous playing in his first NFL game than he was playing in the CFP vs Michigan, Alabama, and Ohio State.

Can Stetson be Baker Mayfield "lite?" That might play for a little while in this League

I would think that Stetson would be the #2 if there was a Stafford injury. If Stafford's injury would be multi-game, I think McVay's first call would be to Jimmy G, way before any thought of a call to Carr.

Why would that even possibly be a consideration? The last thing the Rams need is another average to below average backup QB.
 
i didnt know he had a serious throwing arm injury...

so much for that idea...
