Listening to Dan and the Danettes' podcast and Dan was riffing about today's QB news and discussing Dak specifically and laid out a short list of guys he is better than and not-as-good as.

Says Dak > Goff.

Should I be offended?

LOL ... The Cowboys went 8-8 with Dak last year and didn't have near the OL problems that the Rams did and had a full complement of talent around him. Rams, with Goff, went 9-7 in a tougher division with a RB who wasn't on his game and with our main deep threat missing a good chunk of the year with concussions and playing below his own average when he came back.

Ok, Dan ...

By the numbers, yes... I would rank them about even from what I see of them on game day, however.

IMO, Dak is like Alex Smith. He puts up pretty numbers, but his performances rarely impress when you watch and don't do much to win his team games. I'd take Goff without a second thought. He has the potential to be a QB who can elevate a team.

I love Dan Patrick - but he bags on LA quite often. ESPN/East Coast roots.
To an impartial observer however, I could see that viewpoint - Dak runs and scrambles well, but Goff is lightyears ahead as a passer, but it also screams of recency bias.

I hear everybody about the offensive line. They were a consistent bunch for the Cowboy's last year. Zeke will have a better upcoming season. Not that I think Goff is better that Dak at all, but would Dak perform better under McVay?

Jared is far more skilled BUT he has an alarming frequency to implode against good teams, and that puts Dak as not that far behind him.

.

Goff was a miracle worker last year avoiding sacks. He just doesn't do it in a flashy way so it doesn't get noticed. His back breaking pick 6s took away from all his other good work. That's all the media and public focus on.

If the rams traded Goff straight up for dak i would probably stop watching them play.
