So if a team offered 3-1sts would you consider it? This defense has given up 55,45,44,34,31 this season to teams with the best player in the NFL on it. And also have been pretty healthy overall except for JJ and Matthews. I love Donald. Generational talent. But this is not the NBA where a superstar player or two will make you a great team (unless its the QB). The identity of this team is offense (McVay) and it is the first priority

I'd take 5 firsts, but only from the Bengals.

Instead of trading 99 I thing the Rams need to do a better job or a better scheme to minimize the constant double/triple team on him. How they do that.. well that's up the coaches.
But sure is frustrating as heck when it seems half of the O line is blocking Donald and the rest of the D is playing patty cake with their blocker.. o_O

I know it wont happen because Im sure Kroenke would never let star players go like that with the new stadium opening but the Patriots would always trade big names when they were still worth something and that allowed them so much flexibility and no rebuilding seasons where they were without cap room and draft picks. They traded Seymour and Chandler Jones. But this is an offensive driven league and McVay needs more parts to make his offense work. Trade him to Miami so he can sack Brady 2 games a year lol

The Pats are pretty much the only team that trades away talent and having the greatest coach and qb of all time puts them in a different category.
If anybody knows about blowing high picks it’s this team, Bradford, Robinson and many others.

Trade Aaron Donald?? Never. He's one of the best defensive players in the game and the best at his position. He's a guy that comes around once every 30 years or so. Heck, I believed that the Rams made a big mistake trading away Kevin Greene back in the day and on offense:
Eric Dickerson. We paid for letting them go, didn't we? Keep AD throughout his career.
Rams forever!!

Any opposing fans would read this and say yes please take all our 1st round picks. Which should be enough to tell you exactly how bad of an idea this is.

There will be some cuts. And some clearing of cap space. But Donald and Ramsey stay. We build around them.

The cap situation is not as dire as some think. Tight in 2020 yes. We can rebuild the Oline in one year, iv'e done the math, there will be some starters cut, but it can be done.

Here is my example 2020 Rebuilt Oline:

LT Whitworth or Noteboom
LG Scherff (example) - Corbett Backup
C 2nd round Draft pick - Allen Backup
RG Edwards - Evans Backup
RT Havenstein

This thread should be merged with the thread I asked everyone the same question about 2 months ago. I wasn't advocating for it but I wanted opinion. Actually sad that we would possibly consider the one guy that's earns and plays up to his contract.

Who's considering it?

I didnt say to do it-but I wanted peoples opinions as well. Its not like the defense would be alot worse anyways. We were a middle of the road Defense with him this year and last. He is an amazing individual talent but Defensive tackles as great as Donald at most add 1-2 wins a season. The impact from that position is not as strong as some others. You cant deny that it would create alot of flexibility and capital to improve other deficient areas on this team.

"Possibly" was the key word there lol. Meaning it's a shame that our minds even have to go there. I do think the Rams will explore a lot of things this offseason. They will move heaven and earth some way some how no way they go into so-fi and not give it there best to improve.

No other team wants an aging defensive tackle @$20M per. Especially in exchange for two 1st round draft picks.

41 million dead money give or take ( and giving up the most disruptive defensive player in football) for 2 firsts? or 3? Nah.

If this year was before the contract? I'd listen to Kalil Mack Like offers. and probably say no. But I'd listen

No first rounders for 2 more years. No cap room. Many needs. Status quo and maybe we are a Wild Card team at best. The offense needs a whole new Oline. We need to replace aging players on D. If we trade Donald we can fetch at least 2 firsts and maybe a 2nd. Plus free up tons of cap room. We also can unload Ramsey and get a first and 2nd maybe. These two are great names but as shown tonight they do not make the Rams a great defense. I love Donald and I like Ramsey but this team is not 2 great players. I dont want to go 9-7 next season
There are not many needs.

The defense is set when we sign Cory L....we have others for Fowler if he doesn't sign; and we will survive well enough when the offense gets back to controlling game--if McVay can ever get that train going again.

LT can be NOteboom, though I don't prefer that....maybe Trent Williams
We draft a center...and after that offense ain't changing personnel in 2020.

The Defense needs physicality (and maybe a new coordinator).
