If I'm Denver I'd go get a head coach with a strong defensive pedigree. Build the defense and run game and let Wilson run around and do his thing.

I think Raheem would be a nice choice. Not the best choice but for a couple reasons he would make a lot of sense...

1. He would be able to install the right culture. His time with McVay I think has been good for him in that regard. McVay is the best culture HC in the league. Raheem has a great personality and good overall experience in the league on both sides of the ball. Compare him here to Dan Quinn whose name keeps getting circulated and I'd take Raheem straight up because he is better with the players.

2. He would get feeders from McVay on the offensive side for his staff hires. The two are friends and him adding one of the guys McVay has on his short-list might help him avoid the struggles you'd get with a lot of other defensive hires.

If they do go with a young OC type the fit is going to be determined by the QB. But this is why I'd go get the best defensive option if I were them. Then you can change out your OC if you need to while still maintaining your overall culture from the defensive chair.

Well - the ownership group is basically Stan Kronke’s family.

Evero is the DC? There is that? Eric Henderson though is in the mix either way if that was to happen either way IMO.

That's true, but IMO, he's a better option then Schottenheimer. However, if there is one thing you could communicate about Schotty is that he is "Affable."
IMO we're comparing two piles of shit and deciding which is better :D Neither IMO are something to build an offense around.

Listened to a pod on it and read up.. adjusted for the cap it’ll be like 2 years of what the Rams did in 21…. And the Rams won a Super Bowl.
Russell get next year to turn it around or he’s toast.
If Denver tried to move him after 2023, they'd be facing an 85 mill cap hit likely over 2 years, which yes with the Cap increasing you're right isnt too much worse than what the Rams suffered.
However, that huge hit was also predicated on gaining back a Matt Stafford, so while Denver may be able absorb a similar hit, they wont be gaining a player with it. In fact, they'll be looking for a trade partner who will be willing to take on 36 year old declining QB who has a guaranteed 39 mill in 2024 and 37 mill in 2025. Denver may have to give up the multiple 1st round draft picks with Wilson to get a team to take him

I don’t think they’ll find a trade partner. I think it’ll be a cut.

With all the extra, off-the-field bullshit that comes with Wilson now.. if he’s not excelling, he’s not worth having around.

I don’t think there is any question on that.

QB in place. That’s what Asshole Face wants.

Dallas choice #2.
After watching what Asshole Face did with Winston, and considering Herbert’s talent level, I think Payton could get him playing at an elite level.

I got to believe that would be his top choice (LAC) to start winning right away with a young franchise QB for years of success ahead (like Andy Reid has in KC).

I sort of forgot the Saints own his rights. Who wants to pay this? First round picks for a HC?

Maybe he returns to New Orleans with Tom Brady at QB? Maybe? If there was any truth to those Dolphins rumors last year?

However, the sense I’ve gotten in two recent conversations with folks in the coaching industry is that there could be a little bit of sticker shock once teams realize they will have to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 million, and work out trade compensation for the Saints (who still retain his contractual rights) and prepare to fork over a big percentage of organizational power. It cost the Buccaneers two first-round picks, two second-round picks and $8 million per year to lure Jon Gruden out of Oakland in 2002. That would likely be the starting point for Payton. Chances are, if it’s going to happen, we may get wind of it soon, as legitimate trade discussions would likely have to ramp up.

Maybe all of the recent hype has no substance. I couldn’t see cheapie Spanos trading/paying that much

He is middle of the pack or thereabouts in passer rating. So he's not elite yet. Problem is the media was in such a hurry to crown him. At some point he will surely get there I think, but for now he's outside that top group, another talented young QB working his skills.

He’s third in the NFL despite having a devastated line and his receivers often hurt this year.

After Mahomes, Allen & Burrow
.. there’s no one else I’d take… although Lawrence is moving into the conversation.

He is top three all time in some stats that were shown during last week’s game. I’m trying to find it.

Not what I was looking for but still best all time. That is elite.

Herbert ended the night with 367 passing yards, which gives him 13,056 passing yards for his career. That is more than any other player has amassed in their first three seasons in the NFL. Former Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was the previous record holder with 12,957 and Peyton Manning is now in third place.

The production is great… and he makes throws only Mahomes and Allen can make.

Burrows doesn’t have their arm talent… but is a complete badass.

He's third in passing yards. He's 15th in passer rating (the stat Merlin cited).

What would be interesting is Staley when hired by the Chargers wanted Kevin O’Connell.

Sean Mcvay & The Rams usually don’t block players or coaches. Mcvay was smart enough too block it.

Now the Vikes need a better defense & Staley might make sense.

staley's defense was absolute dogshit without AD.

how bad is the morris defense when it neutralised AD for all opposing offenses?
