The very idea that self-centered broken down distraction Cam Newton is better than a top 10 quarterback in Goff is hilarious.

Especially when anybody with half a brain can see that Goff is a young gunslinger with top five potential.

Cam Newton is almost worthless - OBVIOUSLY.

It goes to prove that the power of narrative can be destructive to a person's legacy. Especially when the facts say otherwise, and it's more popular to repeat a lie than explain the truth.
Facts say that Goff belongs somewhere between 8 and 10. Mr. Media gets paid per click so he ranks him by Google/FB mentions & how many insta followers he has instead of by the content of his performance.
Sports media, like all media, needs clicks to survive. It's why Sims still has a job, but the good reporters go penniless.
Mike Trout is the consensus best player in MLB but gets no recognition. He should be on the cover of every story about baseball instead of some pinstriped pinhead. But Mr. Pinhead gets the cred cuz he had more social media followers & plays in a bigger market.

Part of Simm’s evaluation was something about Goff not being able to be the reason they won, which seems more perception than reality. Mahomes and Lamar are the face of the league, doing things nobody has seen. Goff is a different qb than those guys but clearly able to go toe to toe as he has in the past. That’s not to say he doesn’t have improvements to make but a lot of guys do, a lot of guys who are ahead of him on this list.
Simms loves Watson but makes no mention of the Texans offense completely pissing themselves against the Chiefs while Mahomes was putting on a show.

It's personal because Simms has a serious inferiority complex. Goff has more talent in his pinky fingernail than Simms could accumulate in a thousand lifetimes. So he denigrates Goff in every article he can because he secretly wishes he had a smidgeon of the talent Goff has.

There's a reason why Envy is one of the Seven Sins.
