I thought that I read that the whiners are giving the commodes their 3rd round comp pick, which in fact would be waaay below the Rams actual pick. What really irks me about that is, they are likely to gain draft position by this move. Lets say the comp pick they were set to receive that they traded to the commodes is pick #39, if Young signs a big deal as a FA, I could see them getting the top comp pick in the 3rd (#33) for him leaving. Thus, all they are losing is the salary they are paying him this year but potentially gaining draft positions (albeit, the comp pick for Young will occur in '25 draft). Makes me ill a bit.
A 3rd round pick is the highest comp pick, an they start at the back of the round, not the front.

I think Young is more likely to end up with a contract that nets a 4th or 5th round comp pick. But.. we'll see!!

The pick numbers were in reference to that rounds pick, not the overall pick number (i.e. pick 33 of the 3rd round - #96 overall).

Bosa’s not having the year they hoped when they gave him that money so maybe this will help and besides now the niners don’t have to worry about Young on the Cowboys or eagles.
How’s Dweebo doing after he got paid??

Why? He's a free agent after this year so if we want him go get him then. He wasn't about to put us in the playoffs this year. SF doesn't have the cap space to resign him so he is truly a half year rental. This way we also keep our picks as it's becoming evident that we're going to NEED all of them next draft.
I hope we can go get him, if he stays healthy. Gotta compete with a bunch of other teams in FA.

We're worried about a comp pick being potentially a few spots ahead?

But they cant gain position, so I'm not understanding what you mean. From a draft pick value point of view, a 3rd round pick in 2025 isnt = to a 3rd round pick in 2024, its typically worth a round less.
Seems like a lot of analysis paralysis over this. Its costing the 9ers a quality pick for a true rental

Yes. Glad you accept the fact you made an erroneous statement. It happens.

He's 1-2 in the Championship game and 0-1 in the SB as a HC.

"Big Game Shanny" he is not.

Washington is framing trading Young as addition by subtraction.
Hope this move bites the Niners in the ass!

"There were also concerns about the lack of on-field chemistry among the starting defensive line, multiple sources said. According to sources, when Rivera said three weeks ago that the mantra of "Do Your Job" was directed as much at the defensive line as any group, Young was a particular target of that message; one source said the team viewed trading him as "addition by subtraction." A source said a lack of gap discipline impacted not only the pass rush but defending the run."

Never said he was. Just correcting your incorrect assertion that the next big game he wins will be his FIRST. All good.

Good point actually. I stand corrected
