Arizona also has Houston’s first round pick and, with the Texans also likely to struggle, the Cardinals could have two very high picks next April.
Worst thing is they got rid of the GM who would have fucked those picks up.

Definite issues here. Dumping Kyler with a major injury is unrealistic who would want him combined with how small he is and most importantly he has a gargantuan cap hit.

If I am the Cardinals I auction off the pick and the combo of the 2 picks they got in the first plus what they get for Caleb could set them up for a lot of success for the future if and only if you feel good with Kyler.

I'm still meh on Caleb, so not worried about anyone tanking for him. Any team that tanks should be put on a 3 year timeout....The dolts and their "Suck for Luck" tank job was so damn obvious.

If there’s a year for them to tank, this is surely it.

If they get Caleb AND Harrison I'm gonna lose my sh*t.

If they find a sucker to give them premium picks for Lil’Kyler and then get Caleb and Harrison, I’ll REALLY lose my shit.

100% if there is a year to tank it’s this year. I’m so curious what they’ll get by trading Murray. But the Cards have the chance to set up their franchise for decades with two gems and maybe 3. Going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

Every year there is a player like Caleb, a can't miss top pick. They said the same about Darnold, and Mayfield among a host of others. Most of these media types speak out of their asses or with their bank accounts. Oh you think they aren't "influenced" by the mega agents?

Caleb has talent, there isn't any doubt about that but look at the QB talent they pump out like Darnold. Is he the next Carson Palmer or Matt Leinart? Perhaps, but people ignore the fact that many of these top QBs are system QBs, playing in a systems that cater specifically to their skill set but don't necessarily translate into the NFL.

The danger in tanking is that the team could easily grab another Murray as a Mahomes. Remember, Mahomes was ranked 10th overall in his draft. I have no doubt that the Cards are quietly tanking. But Dobbs is not going to be their man. IMO they are going to start Clayton Tune until Murray can play. But IMO there is legitimate doubt whether or not Murray ever plays again. He's more valuable as trade bait. Only KC runs more RPO than the Eagles.

Clayton Tune is a decent QB but he's a year maybe two away from being a legitimate starter. The difference is, that he's a better fit for an Eagle, i.e. KC style offense that Gannon wants to run. Gannon wants to duplicate the Eagles / KC RPO offense and Tune's ability to run and quick half-field reads are a better fit this year than McCoy. As such yeah Caleb would seem to be a good fit but IMO they will target Drake Maye who is faster with a better arm than Tune. That said Tune will provide them with solid depth for that RPO-heavy offense. Maye struggles in full-field read offenses, but in a Eagle's half field read scheme he would be right at home.

The problem is that Gannon is another Kingsbury selling the RPO snake oil to Bidwell. I have no doubt that Murray would be a fit except for one big reason. He's not durable enough to run an RPO in the NFL. That is why Maye IMO will be their target QB. He's got as good of an arm, but he's 6'4 230 lbs runs a 4.56 40 yd.

This year IMO it will be Tune with James Conner as the primary focus on the ground game. If Tune impresses the Cards could very well go with the best RB in the draft next year. Remember, Hurts was a second round pick thought of as a backup talent. Just shows you how important scheme fit is.

The problem with Kingsbury is he hitched his wagon to a midget. Even Hurts is 6'1" 223 lbs, as opposed to Murray at 5'10" 200 lbs. Tune is 6'2" 220 lbs. Hurts ran the 40 in 4.59, Tune timed at 4.64, so you can see what Gannon sees in Tune.

Remember an RPO offense will take what you give them. If Morris gives Tune wide open WRs in the short zone he will take it and stay ahead of the chains. RPO is all about moving the chains. Morris and the Rams can't sleep on the Cards because that offense will exploit them if they do.

It's what I don't like about Bennett. He isn't a scheme fit for McVay's offense. McVay's offense is predicated upon a pocket passer who can correctly read defenses and thereby make a lot of timing route throws. Bennett is a full field reader, but his view is obstructed and he is not a pocket passer. Like Wolfie he has to make his living on the perimeter or with a dominant OL that will give him windows to see and throw through I have no doubt Bennett will develop into a good backup or even at best a mid tier two QB. But McVay's offense demands more than he can deliver which was painfully obvious in preseason when he was expected to play from the pocket. This is why the media was exposed as frauds when they gushed about Bennett as Stafford's possible successor. It exposed their lack of understanding McVay's offense.

That is the difference between Stafford and Goff. Both make full field reads but whereas Stafford is a timing throw off the reads, Goff takes what is given. Both QBs can be equally successful in an offense that caters to their strengths. It's also why Goff threw so many INTs and why Stafford has actually out done Goff in that way. INTs will happen in McVay's offense, but so will big plays. Goff moves the chains, Stafford is about big plays. It's an important philosophical difference.

IMO if Gannon can pull it off with Maye as his QB they will be far more dangerous than the Seahawks and perhaps the Niners in a few years. Like KC, the Eagles force a defense to defend the entire field something that Morris doesn't know how to do. In other words if the Cards draft Maye then the Rams will need a better DC than bend and break Morris.
First thing you’ve typed in a while that wasn’t completely bat shit crazy! Lol

Wowsers! They didn't think McCoy was backup material?
Not the new regime's guy.

Local media like Tune, not sure where the coaches are on him as far as running out a rookie in Wk 1 while waiting for Kyler. They (media) really seem to think Dobbs can run this offense until Murray comes back or at least help them tread water if Murray isn't gonna play this year at all, for whatever reason.

Not sure I see it.

It sure looks like a tank.

If you’re one of these top QB’s… Arizona is the new Cleveland. Staying in school might delay the start of your career, but it might be the better long term career decision.

Land with the wrong team, like Arizona, your career could be ukered.
Watching things here I think it's fairly safe to say that the organization is moving in a better direction. Ossenfort, unlike Keim seems to know what he's doing.

Remains to be seen what Gannon is as a HC.

What other teams, aside from maybe Indy, are stupid enough to take on Murray's contract on top of his issues in a trade?

Next year is a long way off... but there will be a lot of QB openings, there always are. We'll see.

This is why I'm a big Texans fan this year. I want them to be a surprise playoff team just to fuck the cards.

And my dad says this team is "well-run" with a "respectable owner".

Thank holy fate I wasn't born a football Cardinal fan.

People think I'm making it all up when I say that the odds are huge that Murray doesn't play this season. He's already going to PUP meaning he will miss the first 4 games. But his contract is such that if the Cards play him again this season and he gets hurt even a little boo boo and we know how he will cry.....boo hoo....the Cards will then be on the hook for another $92M of his contract that will be guaranteed by the Cards. They can trade him next year and still have to eat $56M but if he's injured this year the full balance of the contract is guaranteed, i.e. an additional $92M that can't be traded away. If he isn't traded then Bidwell will have to give that $92M to the NFL to hold in an escrow account. All the guaranteed money in contracts are held in NFL escrow accounts.

This is why IMO they will play Tune as their starter and he will play all year. Kyler will be an expensive #3QB waiting to be traded in 2024.

So they are tanking but not tanking. With Tune playing they can say they aren't but their prospect of picking in the top 10 is going to be very good.

Playing a rook QB is a great way to tank. So would not surprise me.

As long as they hold onto Murray they are tanking. Never should have given that big deal.
