A WR in round 3 would stun me.
I agree.
Frankly, I believe the Rams are much higher on Jefferson than many on here are.
For a #3 WR to have a 50 catch, 802 yd 6 TD season? Most teams would sign that up for their #2.
Alas, it's the Rams and if they are anything, its unpredictable. Unpredictable as far as drafting goes that is, while they are becoming predictable winners to boot

I think with their first pick there are only a few place to go.

DB, WR, OR Edge.

Here’s my take.

OBJ was off to a great start in the SB. Hell, he was almost uncoverable in the playoffs.

He would be a great complement to Kupp and the 2 would be a nightmare to defend.

And now we have ARob added to the mix. Again Rams have 2-headed nightmare to defend.

If Rams can add OBJ by November it will seem almost unfair, and I think Rams are planning to do just that.

OBJ on an incentive laden contract this year would seem to be cap dollars well spent, if you ask me.
Great post. Imo posters are underestimating how really, really good OBJ is-- when healthy and recovered-- and what he brings to the offense. He is a terrific receiver with the ability to get open one on one, go underneath or deep or to the sidelines, score in the red zone, and catch everything.

If Robinson steps up in the offense as anticipated the Rams trio of Kupp, AR, and OBJ will be, as you say, unfair and unstoppable.

I think that's the bigger issue. a will be 30 year old, coming off knee surgery to same knee that was injured the previous season. We dont know when he'll be healthy and recovered, took basically 11 months last time, and that was just to get on the field

Didn't feel like reading through every post but in case it hasn't been mentioned.

At the end of the most recent episode of 11 Personnel, Jourdain said that her sense was (and she's usually correct) that the Rams have made an offer to OBJ and he's waiting to see if he can get anything better. Makes sense given the injury.

She also said it was for multiple years, which I wonder if anyone else would give him.

That's key. Surely it's an incentive laden deal for 2022, based on how many games he's available to play. Then maybe 2023 and 2024 with an injury clause. Makes sense. If there is a write off for most of 2022, that's fine. Don't know how much guaranteed money he'd get but I can't see any team giving him huge jack for 2022 or any kind of significant guaranteed cash.

Don't know how reliable this is from Fansided:
"He has since had successful surgery. Since this is his second ACL injury, his recovery is anticipated to require up to nine months. That means that he will be ready to play in early November."

or from a month ago

Ian Rapoport
@RapSheet

"From our NFL Combine coverage: #Rams WR Odell Beckham Jr is a priority for the team as it tries to run it back. With Beckham expected back in early November, 2022 could feature a repeat of his contributions in 2021."

IIRC OBJ was nursing an injury when he first came to the Rams. I believe it was a shoulder injury and it showed when he had to fight to high point a catch. OBJ is an emotional guy and he’s been through a lot whether it was measuring up to his superstar status in NY or playing for the dysfunctional Browns. I sure hope if the Rams are willing to give him a good multi-year contract despite the uncertainty with his recovery that he would highly prize the stability and relevance of his role as part of the Rams over starting over with a team willing to outbid the Rams. If not, just like with Von Miller the Rams will have a Plan B should OBJ not come on board.

Stafford was 27th in the league for deep ball accuracy. Throwing to an inexperienced receiver that body catches, isn’t a jump ball threat and isn’t good at making acrobatic catches is a bad combination for Stafford.

For a second round pick it really seems that Snead missed some important details when evaluating Jefferson.
Well, to be fair to Sneed, Stafford wasn't our QB when we pick Van. I think he is a fine pick for a Goff type QB, but agree 100% that he is not a great fit for Stafford. Stafford expects his receivers to go get the ball, and that just doesn't seem to be in Van's game at this point. Goff really didn't make those kinds of throws.

Yeah too much focus on one week of practice vs his strangely low production. That was the concern with him. And granted the Rams might still get it all out of him, he is going to get a shot this year to stick. But I agree he's too passive re: the ball.

I also think they drafted Tutu off of that draft profile that has been superseded by things that favor Stafford. But that doesn't mean Tutu can't kick ass with Stafford, especially given who he'll draw with defenses sweating Kupp/Robinson.

Yes. I can’t recall where I read that but I was surprised.
Who knows, the way stats get contorted it was likely in the way it was presented. Here's a list where he's ranked 12th, however he also threw more deep passes than all but 1 player (Mahomes) and completed more than all but 2 (Mahomes & Allen)
So realistically, looking at this list he's top 5 at worst with the deep ball

Its January 2023...

The Rams are in the playoffs.

Their WRs are Cooper Kupp, Allen Robinson, OBJ and Van Jefferson.

Yes, please.
