With all the discussions/rumors about the Rams trading or releasing Cam Akers maybe he might just be worth keeping?!

Totally understand but call me an extreme optimist because I think Akers will be just fine and be the Rams starting RB for several years!

He has been running hard. I think the difference today is the Oline, thought they had a decent game.

Not to kick a guy when he's unemployed but I think this settles the Akers vs Henderson discussion?

I'm guessin' you forgot the blue font, Loyal. That was a type 5 defense today in most categories and Cam Akers shredded them.
Don't get me wrong, the OL showed and played well today, but Cam was finding the holes and hitting them hard. Also real happy to see Mayfield check down to him in the flat a few times and let Cam do his thing.

There are too many games of him not doing much, and/or fumbling the ball at critical times. I wasn't sold on Akers before this game and I admit that he did well today. Keep going Cam and prove me wrong.

How many 100 yard games during that time, before today?
Loyal,
The correct answer to your question is with another question: How many times did McVay abandon the run (See: Akers, Cam) and go all pass-happy?
Like just about every game this year except today. If the light has gone on for Akers it may be because it has (finally!!) gone on for McVay.
Let us hope so as THIS is how we need to play going forward...

I think Cam has played his way into staying. That all said, I expect we'll make a move for a HB to pair with him. If Dallas doesn't keep him, I think Tony Pollard is a guy we'll seriously pursue (for the same reasons we went after McCaffrey). If Dallas does keep him, I think McVay could trade for Antonio Gibson. My guess is that we have a committee approach next year, and Akers will be 1B.

I'd still pay for another running back like Montgomery or Singletary (I think Pollard is a pipe dream at this point.), but if Akers continues his ascent, he's definitely a keeper; he played his heart out this game.

K-Will, Akers, and two other backs (I'd pay for a running back in free agency and draft one late, like one of the two Longhorns backs behind Bijan Robinson.) should be solid.

I'm not sure he's going to be kept around but it feels great to see him finally back in something resembling his old form. Very happy for him.

Offensively what we lack is speed. McVay will almost surely look to add speed at RB to help counter that, and he'll prioritize pass catcher types, or types that can catch the ball. But for now I am hoping we see Cam finish strong and keep this offense online the rest of the way. Then the one year rebuild attempt can start and from there I don't know that anyone on this roster is safe.

He literally had 100 yards last week, lol

And idk if you've noticed but the O-line has been decimated this year
I guess I was spoiled by Faulk, SJAX and Gurley. Of course I know about the Oline and have been one of the posters ragging on the Rams for not picking Humphreys. But Cam's vision was for shyte and there was every chance he would get stripped of the ball early in the season when it mattered most. He has never had a streak of 100 yards rushing (not combined) games where he was anywhere close to a rushing leader. In my opinion, he is mediocre at best.

Even Gurley only had 1 100 yard game his first year with McVay, the last game of 2017. Obviously he blew up in 2018 but McVay we all know can abandon the run at the worst possible times.

If McVay was willing to throw a bunch of picks and an extension at Christian McCaffrey, it signals to me that Pollard isn't a pipe dream. Keep in mind that a lot of teams aren't willing to invest a large amount of resources into the HB position. We're one that is.
