Little House on the Prairie and Gunsmoke most streamed legacy TV shows

Little House on the Prairie most streamed legacy TV show at 13.5 billion hours streamed last year that's a "b" for a billion

Gunsmoke came in second

Rounding out the top 10

The Sopranos
Breaking Bad
Friends
The Office
The Twilight Zone
Seinfeld
The Andy Griffith Sow
Cheers

I was surprised, when I saw Gunsmoke 2nd on the list , I looked to see where Bananza was , apparently no where , I could find Bananza even listed anywhere

Finished the new Little House On The Prairie , on Netflix

Over all I thought it was pretty good

Having read all the books and pretty close to the same age as Melissa Gilbert , I grew up with little Miss Ingalls on TV

So like most fans of the original Little House On The Prairie , we waited to see modern Hollywood would retell a classic from the 1970s for a "modern" audience

An well , they didn't muck it up to bad ,

This new version is a little more somber then the original , less humor , the support cast were fine , but little generic , all likeable , but probably forgettable,

The girl playing Laura did a fine job as well , even if she does look like she was abopted........lol

The new Laura does lack Melissa Gilberts spunk

It is unfair to compare a tv show with 8 episodes to one with over 200

But still , the wife and I enjoyed it

From the opening credits we knew the show was going to have a different tone

Oh, was thinking this wasn't coming out for a few months. Will be watching it over the next few weeks. I see Netflix already greenlit a second season which is extremely rare for them. Usually they like to leave things in limbo and then shit can a show after one season. So that's promising at least.

I liked it for the most part , like I said , it's a little more somber then the original TV show , but also , maybe a little more realistic

I'm the same age as Mellisa Gilbert , so I grew up with the TV show , I've read the book , and loved them both

And

We live about a hour south of Walnut Grove , so have visited , the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum, and have gone down the Plum Creek where the indentation still remains of where they built their little sod house dugout

But one thing about the original show , and the book , it made me curious between fact and fiction

The TV show was pure fiction , and even the books were mostly fiction , Laura Ingalls Wilder, had a nice way of skipping over all the bad bits

Like after they left Walnut Grove for the the first time , they moved to Burr Oak Iowa for a year , but never mentioned it in here books , which always made me curious as to why ,

Well , mostly because it sucked!!!!.......lol

Renewed for season 2 , my guess , like alot of streaming shows now days , it only 8 episodes long , so filming season 2 at the same time would be pretty easy

Season one takes place in Independence Kansas , season 2 will take place in Walnut Grove Minnesota ,and I'm sure I'll be whole lot more critical with season 2 then season 1...........lol

My wife and I have been watching The Last Ship - it's better than I thought it would be. Got us hooked.
I started watching that show a couple years back on Hulu but I couldnt deal with the commercials and ended up leaving it. Now its on Netflix I should give it another go

Widow's Bay is awesome so far! We're halfway through. Super creepy but also hilarious
Thank you! Great show!! Posted some thing about it back in May and all I got was “struggling to get thru it” and “…just find the show annoying” (sorry dieter) Also agree with Psycho-X about Apple TV, I’m finding most of my current favorite shows have been on Apple.

Mobland on Paramount+ is a lot of fun. Season 2 coming soon, but heard Tom Hardy won't be back for S03. Not watching that show without him unfortunately.

My wife turned on Rooster this morning, with Steve Carrell.
It had a few failed cheap, cliché laughs early on, but recovered nicely.
We ended up watching the entire season and really enjoyed it.

Carrell does both comedy and drama very well IMO.
I find him genuinely likable.

That's funny I watched the first episode with my wife when it premiered and it didn't really grab either of us either. Like you said the humor was kind of meh and couldn't get into the characters. Since then we watched the entire Ted Lasso series which I had never seen before. Side note, absolutely loved it and get why it was so popular now and looking forward to S4. But I digress, went back and started watching Rooster again one day when I was bacheloring it and could not believe the daughters husband was Jamie Tartt Tartt Tartt Ta Tartt Ta Tartt! (Ted Lasso joke) So, gave it another go just because of wanting to watch him in a different role. I still have a couple episodes to go but I'm enjoying it a lot. Not sure I'll get the wife to pick it back up though.
