Last year's defense with Aaron Donald allowed 22 points per game. This year's defense (before this game) is averaging 24 points allowed with a bunch of rookies and deserve some leeway. Not to mention Kinchens winning at least a game for us

yeah okay.. 24pts per game is 25th in the nfl... that's bad.

Defense was a little bit better last year sure.

Last year's defense was pretty average. 24 PPG is not good at all. That's like a bottom 10 defense.

Our offense is where most of the money is spent and SHOULD be carrying our team every game. The defense just needs to be good enough and mostly have been that this year

Especially when one of the highest paid offenses with an offensive minded coach is only averaging 21 points per game (20th in the league)

The D wasn’t bad tonight. All the big plays were close as hell and the refs were not too friendly. They still have coverage drops in the secondary but they much better. That’s a top 3 QB in this league. He’s going to get his against just about everybody. Lesser Os in this league would have gotten their ass beat by us today. I like where these rookies are going. One more good draft and the Rams will be scary.

They seemed to be near the play more often but definitely could have been better today. Verse and Fiske were held and contained all day. And yes, the Bills can put that many points on the best teams for sure. I can't wait until we can add a few more pieces and have more time in the scheme, they'll get better!

the Defense has ranked near the bottom of the league all year.

I like some of our young players and we could be good some day.

But the defense has been one of the worse defenses in the league all year in most categories.

This bizarre narrative started happening in the past couple years.

No matter how inept the defense plays it's like a special little baby that's protected by a handful of people.
We have the most expensive offense in the league.

We have, by far, the least expensive defense in the league.

The offense is supposed to be good; the defense was not. Yet, while the defense isn't good this year, it has outperformed the offense to this point.

McVay was so exhausted that he didn't even give out game balls.

The offense was decimated by injuries early in the year and hadn't found its footing. Hopefully, this is the week things came together. The OL finally played up to potential. That has been what's held us back.

Ghost Tide blocker.

On that horse collar call on Verse I was yelling so loud, with so many expletives, that my wife left the house and went shopping. I was supposed to take her after the game. :laugh3:
My wife complained about “the rain of goddammits” and went and hid elsewhere in the house.

Absolutely, I agree that's the major contributor to that. My main point is that the expectation put on a rookie defense with a first year defensive coordinator should be different than the expectation for an offense with a HOF QB and Coach, even with the injuries we've had. All teams get injured, it's how they play through it that matters

I get that, but it doesn't make the defense less frustrating. The offense has frustrated me plenty this year too. But today, the defense didn't show up.
