Best Rock Group Concerts.......

btw Been to a ton of concerts,so just going to do a top ten and I favor the guys/band that can play...

Pink Floyd, they're the most complete band I ever saw.over and over..

Saw the Who around 76 in Miami Baseball Stadium in the rain and mud.want to talk about a band playing hard and BTW Moon was the Best Drummer EVER.

Mahogany Rush never ever heard a 3 piece band play the way they did, see Tom Sawyer lol..

ZZ Top and the 10 thousand watt tour with all those gosh darn animals on stage...

Blue Oyster Cult, had a girl that to this day is very special to my heart, But the smoke the Godzilla was awesome...

Ozzie saw like 5 of his concerts , always had a great band, and I think I've always been on the crazy train.........Randy Rhodes was off the Charts..

Saw Skynyrd many many times what a heck of a band..Saw them Sept 23 rd before they passed...

Clapton that dude could play, but he just sat down lol..

Saw the 1st Van Helen they only played like 12 songs and they were the opening act, But Eddie you could tell he was a star.

Last but not least Neil Young playing at bi cenntinial park, his playing of Hurricane was off the charts...........

Red Hot Chili Peppers.....saw them at a house party in Isla Vista (outside Santa Barbara) right after their first album came out
Lemmy (from Motorhead) and two of the Stray Cats in a little club playing mostly 50s rock-n-roll. Good times and got to have a drink with Lemmy.
Iron Maiden, seen them probably 30 + times. Saw them on the World Slavery Tour in Long Beach in 84, changed my direction in life, haha.
Buddy Rich Big Band in LA, had BB King and Stevie Ray Vaughn upon up playing together.
Eventually they came out and jammed with his big band.
Legendary stuff.

I saw the Who's Quadrophenia Tour at the Cow Palace and Moon passed out twice stopping the show each time. They (Daltry or Townsend) finally the crowd if anyone could play drums, this guy did.

I saw them in 76 at the Miami Baseball stadium, talk about a band with energy.

Btw the drummer from M Rush was good.

Went to Tampa to see Zepplin, but it started raining and they freaking left after 3 songs.

I have see Rush live well over 15 times. J Geils Band always put on a good show, so did Bob Seger.

Saw Metalicca with Alice in Chains..that was a great show

Van Halen, missed the last part of the show, got in a fight with 3 college kids.

Damn Yankees I was 10 feet from Ted Nugent, he was a wild man.
Gamma (small bar, that was a good day)
Prince (good show, great vibe)
Grand Funk Railroad (at the fair)
Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney (was ok)
Don Henley (sucked, but got to hear Hotel California)
War with Cheech and Chong (War was jamming, had a great time)

I was lucky enough to see quite a few great bands early on in their career. But the one I remember the most is the one that got away. A buddy invited me to go too a concert with him. As I remember the top billing was Sammy Hagar who went by the red rocker back then. Now I am not sure if he was or not. Its been a few years. Anyway I couldn't go for some reason although I wanted to. Next time I saw my buddy I ask him how the show was how Hagar was. He didn't have anything to say about Sammy he just kept going on and on about the opening act. How they owned the stage and nobody could follow them. And he was just blown away. I said well who the hell are they. His reply "Don't know man some band named Boston."

There's one Rock concert that sticks out for me because of the venue it was in.

There used to be a place in Casselberry FL called Fern Park Station. It was an old train station that remained after the train tracks had been moved. This place even had an old train caboose attached to it. Once it was no longer a station... it was turned into a bar/concert venue. Calling it very unique was an understatement. There was a raised stage on one end and a round bar in the middle that served drinks all the way around it 360°. There weren't any real seating options, but there were a few tables with chairs around the far edges of the place and in the very back along the walls. Most people just had to stand during shows... but you could get up right next to the stage. I mean up close and very personal. The place would only allow like maybe 100 people in for a show... it was small.

So when I heard that David Lee Roth was going to be playing there, I almost couldn't believe it. Obviously this was after Van Halen... but it was Roth for fucks sake. Me and 2 friends were very lucky to get tickets. It was crazy being in such a small setting with Roth and his band. I literally handed him a few drinks while he was onstage from the bar. The bar kept drinks flowing for the guys throughout the show. Roth performed VH songs and his solo stuff too just like he would have if he were back on stage in one of the largest arenas on the planet. Dude is a crazy showman. It was like having him play in your local dive bar. It was insane.

Lol at the Hollywood Sport. Boston caused a riot, because they played their 12 song 1st album and left..

Lost my cous to melanoma years ago so Kiss is special.

So imho No One forgets Kiss, but they're no better then top 50 and maybe saying top 100 is a better ranking.

Dave Brubeck Quartet - 2011 Sacramento Red Lion Inn

KROQ Weenie Roast 200? - lineup was fantastic at Irvine Amphitheatre: 311, Fugees, Everclear, No Doubt, Korn, Red Hot Chili Peppers (great set all blues songs and covers no hits), Kiss came back in full makeup from a long no make up hiatus.

Soundgarden - SF palladium about six years ago. Good to see Cornell, "don't let the world bring you down"

Tool - Reno Events Center about 12 years ago before 10,000 days came out. Played almost a 20 minute version of Lateralus. Incredible.

For me it would be:
- ozzfest 98, Vancouver B.C.. black sabbath reunion tour, Rob zombie (never saw so many girls flashing tits than during his set), slayer, fear factory, Deftones, Creed, hell, system of a down played at noon at this show cause no one really knew them... Amazing day I will never forget
- Ramstein 2016 and 2019, Quebec city summer festival.. both shows amazing in front of 100 000 plus fans. Was lucky enough to have VIP passes for both shows
Metallica 2011, Quebec city summer festival.. a show that was on their bucket list and it showed.. they opened with battery, master of puppets and for whom the Bell tolls in rapid fire... Amazing

My best ever was a Phish show - Phoenix 1997. I’ve seen over a dozen phish concerts and none of the others crack my top 5 overall but that Phoenix show is #1 and probably always will be.

As far as music, yeah. They’re not very good. But as far as shows go? Massive pyrotechnics, spitting up blood, smoking guitars, insane drum solos, etc. I still haven’t seen anything like it.

Speaking of showmanship... I did mention that David Lee Roth had it in shades at that tiny concert of his that I went to.

But I forgot to mention that he brought out some samurai swords at one point and whipped em around during one of the songs. I'm still not sure how he didn't kill at least one of the band members.

The funny thing about that... some time after the show I went to... I remember seeing a story that Roth had to cancel the rest of his shows because he fucking cut the shit out of himself with one of those samurai swords.
