Never has been, he's another sports star just like the hundreds of others in every sport. When he busted out he was a 22 year old kid after a couple of years trying to escape Cuba. All of a sudden he's in the spot light in LA doing what he does best and he was having a great time. But he's no more a prima dona than anybody else in the game.

Puig was young and excitable and caught up in his own hype his rookie year. He's actually a very good guy.
Problems when he came up were two fold. One was Mattingly he really had no idea how to work with the young kid. In spite of being a great player and a good manager he was horrible at managing the club house(that doesn't even mention how ineffective McGuire was as his hitting coach). Two the only real leader at the time who was willing Adrian Gonzalez. Now we've added Turner, Utley, Kendricks in his time here, along with Grandal. They've had a good influence on the clubhouse especially Utley and Turner. Plus he has a hitting coach in Turner Ward who has done wonders with not only Yasiel but the team as a whole. Dave Roberts has done a great job with our young guys. Also he hasn't gotten married yet but he and his lady just had their second baby. Yasiel is listening and changing, the only thing he isn't getting rid of and I love it is the bat flip.

showboating should never get you a fastball to the ribs causing a broken rib. words do not equal potential injury. Plus I'm still upset about the pitch to ribs and hands from the Cards against Hanley especially when he was hitting so well. I do agree that there shouldn't be a ton of showboating, but it also does kinda make the sport a bit more colorful and fun.
the pitch was never in response, in fact i believe it was done to either get Hanley to stop hitting well (scare him and maybe the pitch got away) but it happened twice in 2 different series. Secondly, even if it is disrespect, it does not equate to actual physical injury towards another player. That would be like if a pitcher disrespect the batter, then the batter should be able to take a swing at the pitcher with his bat.
