Anyone else not comfy with giving Peters a big contract?

Well Long jr. Has a long way to go. He didn't shine in preseason. If you're looking to replace someone you'd at least like to see him flash.

Agreed. He's probably gonna be just fine once he gets settled in, but he definitely needs more time at least. Would be nice if he's impressing in practice by about halfway through the season, at a minimum. If not, CB is probably a very high need and that's assuming they extend Talib.

Sounds like it’s personal for you especially not caring how he plays. The Rams will evaluate his play and take into count all aspects but if he’s playing well and the coaching staff is on board with him they will give him an extension based on that. Peters has had his share of struggles early last season and had a few issues with penalties but he played well down the stretch and in the playoffs. I saw the taunting penalty but I also saw antics in other games that didn’t get called. Not justifying the action but rather saying that Marcus Peters seems to have a target on his back. He will have to limit those kind of mental errors and distractions but I think he gets extended before seasons end. If not I can guarantee he will have plenty of suitors in free agency. Corner is a priority position in today’s NFL. You just don’t replace them easily.

Let him walk and pocket the comp pick. Bring back Talib and have him start next to Long next year while our high draft pick in 2020 learns from them. Then we have possibly two third round comp picks from Peters and Fowler.

That's missing with this secondary.
And as hard as he tries, he's a 'me' guy at heart.
If Fowler can be a play maker, I'd rather spend the cheese on him.

Cool so you agree with me let him walk? As for Fowler fine but if he has a good year it drives up the price. Cap space is at a premium and we have a lot of youth and Matthews signed next year. And like I said Les loves him some comp picks.

Well, we already extended Higbee.

Bortles isn't going to resign, he's going to look for a starting position next year.

The top three resigns... and I think we get them ALL done are Fowler, Littleton and Zuerlein.

Big Whit may or may not come back, same with Talib, but we'll be okay either way.

Brockers is unlikely to come back, especially if Fox continues to develop. His arc should have him ready to start next season.

Peters won't be back. His money is going to go to Fowler, in part.

The rest are depth players that aren't going to substantially affect the cap if they stay or are replaced.

Always thinking ahead being proactive instead of reactive.... Snead does this well as an NFL GM.

Acquiring draft ammo helps him tremendously on draft weekend each year. Drafting young talent during that initial 4 yr windows has helped this team become a powerhouse today. Not sure what CBA will do with those rookie contract though...?

Peters & Fowler will demand sizable future contracts in the NFL in 2020. Both stand to bring Snead two 3rd round selections in 2021 Draft. Snead has already padded up the CB unit for 2020 with new the signing of veteran CB Troy Hill & drafting of CB David Long in this past draft. He will have his veteran Nickle NRC still remaining. Snead has two youngsters in Darious Williams & Dont'e Deayon to fill in as #4 & #5 corners.

I would think that Snead has his scout teams looking @ outside CB very closely for the 2020 draft. In addition, I'd look for Snead/Demoff to talk CB Talib into putting off retirement for 1 more season. It's will not cost that much to make that happen in 2020. Peters will not be here.

Brockers will go to a team that plays a 43 defense. His veteran leadership & having come from a championship Rams team will get him a very nice fat payday too to a losing team with very large salary cap funds. Brockers easily would get Snead a 4th round draft pick too in 2021. Making Snead

Well let’s look at what you’re speculating on. You have a corner that is playing well that is up for a contract and your other corner is an aging free agent so you’re debating whether you should sign the corner that’s playing well and only 26 years old because why??? It’s pretty simple. If Peters plays well and Wade wants him back the Rams will try to resign him no matter what prejudice the casual fan may have.

Yeah, that seems to be the plan. He may not be as good Whit in 2017, but he should be a decent replacement for this year's Whit. That's clearly the plan, anyway.

I do see another couple of OL being drafted in 2020, along with a QB unless they pick up another vet at a bargain price, and other positions as the value is there.

Well, there's no realistic chance of replacing one of the best LTs of all time. But Noteboom should end up being a good LT. Not Pace good, of course. But good.

Everybody likes to play GM.... I do the same thing. I think that is what's great about the NFL. It's a year round sport and fans like to follow all aspects of their team from roster building to the actual games.
