I can't ever remember a Rams' draft where I thought EVERY position on the team could use reinforcements.

An argument can be made for getting help at:

QB
RB
WR
TE
OT
OG
C
DT
DE
OLB
ILB
CB
S
K
P
PR
KR
LS

My question for y'all... is there ANY position that you think doesn't require help?

Only one I can think of is FB, since we don't use one!

I'm glad we have 3 superstars and a prodigy HC and a solid organization... but just amazing how many holes on this roster.

I don't think they'll take safety, ILB, QB, oline, or KR/PR.

I think they'll take a runner, WR, corner, and a pass rusher.

They have, what, 11 picks? I'd be stone cold shocked if they didn't draft at least one OL at some point in the draft.

We COULD draft any position.

Looking at what we have, and what we could obtain in the post-draft FA market, I don’t think we NEED to draft a QB, RB, WR, DT or S.

That’s a good list to look at.
QB: unless they are gonna spend early capital on one, I don’t really see the point unless “somebody of interest” falls to them. Even then, he’s strictly backup material. The whole draft gets skewed if the Rams grab one early. I think it costs them in the long run to do that.

RB/WR: I know the roster is stocked with bodies but Akers could be gone after this year and KW hasn’t seen too much action. Both Robinson and VJ could be gone after this season, maybe sooner. That only leaves Kupp and Skow as WRs with any real results behind them. Big year for Atwell.
No way McVay “retools” the offense without getting another RB or WR. Just my opinion.

DT: unless it’s NT, yeah, no need. This board seemed more concerned about retaining gaines than ARob, but the Rams seem to at least have bodies to play DT—guys to look at first before seeking out help.

Safety: agree. With all of the young guys they picked up last year in the secondary, they seem to have been planning for this group to grow together. If there are any concerns during/after camp, grab a vet to help pull them all together. Now if they still had ramsey, different story, which is why the brought in a couple Safeties last offseason while he was still here.

I don't think Akers is gone after the season. Why? He's a productive RB, running and receiving and he knows the offense. He won't be expensive to resign. At some point they have to extend players or they will never build the roster as the attrition would be too great. I think they will take a RB but IMO it won't be before their last 5th round pick or in the 6th round more likely. There really is little difference between a late 5th round RB and one taken in the early 6th.

I think they will take an OT with their last 5th round pick. because there is a difference between OL taken in the 5th round and those taken in the 6th and 7th. The need only look at Arcuri who has yet to show he can play at this level. They signed Nsekhe because Arcuri looked so bad.

Old school NFL took the bulk of their OL in the 2nd thru 5th rounds.

This is going to be a BPA draft as we gear up for a free agency haul in 2024 and say F them picks in 2025 and 2026. If there's a player at a position with depth such as WR, C, or LT that is high enough on McSnead's board, we're still going to grab them.

Robinson, Boom, and Allen (if all healthy) could be 2023 trade pieces if they play at a high enough level to a team with playoff aspirations.

I don't know about 'a free agency haul in 2024'.

Despite their "Cap Moves", the Rams currently project to be just middle-of-the-pack in cap space in 2024.

Yeah maybe in the later rounds. I just don't see them taking one early.

Interestingly I could see a stud safety

Nah. They have 4 on the roster and history shows they don't prioritize the S position. And they shouldn't, it's also a low value position.

This is what happens when you pay 90% of your money for 3 players.
Not really.... it's what happens when you go for it hard for a 4-6 yr period. It catches up to you.

Saints, Ravens, Packers, & Bucs are a few recent examples.

Bills, Eagles, and maybe even the Chiefs will be next. The Chiefs with their freaky generational QB might be an outlier since they can get by without going too crazy adding pricey vets. Kind of like the Pats fid with Brady.

The Eagles doubled down this yr with 1 yr deals with void yrs to max out this yrs roster and still lost a lot in FA.

In 24' they currently have 33 players that will actually be on the roster. OTC shows 38, but 5 are void yrs so they are not on the 53. They currently have $48M in cap space for 24', but that's before Hurts' contract which will likely have $30-35M cap hit in 24'. So they need to add 30 players and will have $10-15M to do so.

In 25' they have only 12 players currently under contract (non void yr deals) and $100 in cap room, but again that's before Hurts' contract hits. So by 25' he likely will count a full $45-$50M against the cap. Leaving them with only $50-$55M to account for 40 roster spots. Not good.

Anyway the point is every team that "goes for it" will have a yr or two where they reset. The key is how quickly can you do that and bounce back big?

Agree, except for QB. Don't see any way they don't draft a career backup type. Some decent ones in this draft and the cost of a mid to late round pick makes the draft the way to go to acquire one.

Easy way, you sign a guy like Mason Rudolph for a year or two as backup then blow up the position when Stafford retires.
