RB Dean Connors beats out Ronnie Rivers and becomes primary kick returner with Whittington.

Rams keep 5 LBs to help out the special teams and drop a safety (McCollough) after Dolac proves up to the challenge in coverage on defense.

McCollough loses his spot to up and coming younger safety prospects, one of which proves capable of returning punts (Anderson).

Looks good. Would like a vet WR (e.g. Allen/Diggs) that could bump one of Whitt/Smith/Edwards. Then pick up a vet CB (e.g. Rasul Douglas) better than Wallace. Then try to keep the 2 bumps on the PS.

Agree with Allen2McVay on safety Jaylen McCollough, top 69% ST contributor. Played in every Rams gm for 2 seasons and is a an ultra economy resign cost RFA in 2027.

2nd ILB'er position is part time. None of the listed ILB'ers are UFA's in 2027. 5 Master Roster spots is far too heavy of a roster hit when there is no need.

Only 9 OL'ers on that Master Roster that includes 5 UFA's in 8 months....is a serious big problem.

Always appreciate the work you and everyone puts into these. Now for the beating (ahem) the quibbles!

Hard to think McCollough not making the team when he was essentially the 3rd LB and was the key the to our dime package which we played at league high last year and it was our most effective D alignment. And as mentioned, he has quite a bit of ST utility. Not likely but could happen I guess.

Kinda interesting that Limmer doesn't make it and how quickly opinions can change. He actually flashed some great traits at C in 2024 but when he screwed up on the way to superbowl in 2024 many people were willing to overlook it but then after not looking that great in preseason last year and week one last year people just want to throw him aside. I'd like to see what he can do in camp this year but if it's not good, yeah I could see him gone and it seems Dedich has superseded him as backup across all IOL spots.

Any more thoughts you can share about why Tru Edwards beats out CJ Daniels? I will say they feel very similar as WRs.

Yep. Davis Allen would replace Austin Davis if I could edit the guess.

Special teams played a significant role in these guesses.

McCollough played the 2nd most special teams snaps on the team, but from what I'm reading ONLY had 5 special teams tackles (3 solo, 2 assisted). If true, that's a MAJOR problem as he may have been part of the problem. Derion Kendrick and Tanner Ingle hardly played special teams they had 3 & 2 tackles, respectively. Plus I'm guessing the dime package usage diminishes with better CB play and the predicted addition of Dolac on defense. Might sound odd, but I was also considering the past two deep TE draft classes where teams have loaded up at the position and I sorta expect teams copy the Rams a bit.

The 5th LB was chosen over the 5th safety by being the better player. Sorta like when the Rams kept 7 WRs one year.

Love the idea of adding a veteran CB over Wallace. Finding one willing to go all out on special teams would be key.

I'm not expecting 5 UFAs on the Oline in 8 months. I'm guessing McClendon gets his new deal before the season starts and either Dotson or Avila get extension before 2027 free agency. Also, hoping for more development from someone placed on the practice squad.

Limmer got pushed out due to the versatility of Dedich and Trost.

I have no doubt that Daniels has a major edge being a recent draft selection the team traded up to obtain. Edwards, however, just looks like a more explosive potential playmaker to me (if given the opportunity).

The key for any of these guys on the back end of the roster?
DON'T GET HURT AND MISS TOO MUCH TIME IN OTA'S OR CAMP. Almost seems like a death knell towards a players chances of making the final roster.

I don't see McCullough as a weapon and I believe the team played dime as much as they did due to the lack of a linebacker they trusted in coverage (coupled with having CBs that couldn't lock down anyone). Here I'm guessing Dolac gets the opportunity to make something happen. I also believe the players guessed on the roster could be just as, if not more effective, on defense AND more effective on special teams.

BTW, I also don't believe injuries forcing the team out of using dime coverage was that big of a deal. IMO, competition provided the team some fools gold.

Do you have deep intel on this UDFA rookie CB/ Nickel DB Nyzier FourQurean?

I placed DB Quentin Lake further in the safety room than corner room. The Rams carried heavy with safeties in the Practice Squad all last season. PS Tanner Ingle who they brought up any times is not a coverage DB.

I should say that I am hoping that a safety with better coverage deep skills than McCollough would brightly appear in TC & pre season.

The new big 3 yr deal of veteran safety Kamren Curl indicates to me that safety Kamren Kinchens will depart when this season is concluded. Thus a large need for a new starting safety to appear and or a Nickel to brightly bloom so Lake could be teamed with Curl in 2027. Where McCollough fits as a starter in 2027 is an unknown.

Obviously you like the college work history of safety Nick Anderson from Wake Forest better & it's hard not to like what he has shown.

I would go with contracts to McClendon & Dotson and hope for the reserves to step up @ LG & OC.

A few of us were voicing our concerns and bringing up the topics in bold last year and pretty much got shot down by the statistics from the other posters. I am glad you brought this up because I actually forgot about these things when it was brought up why our D took such a dump at the last half of the season and playoffs. Mostly the luck ran out. Now I am even more concerned that we didn't pick up a Defensive player with 13. Oh and mitchell cost them 2 TDs. The TD run he got called for holding I think.

I'd actually rather have Al'zillion Hamilton than Nyzier Fourqurean at this current time. It's not that Fourqurean isn't good; I like the kid as a developmental corner, but Hamilton has insane ballskills (thirteen PBUs and two picks his junior year; five PBUs and four picks in his senior year), all while mostly everyone was throwing away from him in his senior year, and if that's not enough, he had a missed tackle percentage of 4.5%.

He's certainly not the most explosive, but there's always room for a nickelback with ballskills and solid tackling, especially on teams.

I took a deep look at both players for the UDFA small bios I did. I still prefer Hamilton; stats and the tape to prove it don't lie. Fourqurean is a good prospect, and I'm not saying Fourqurean is not a candidate to win the job; I just prefer what Hamilton has done as far as stats and tape go.
