We posted the same opinion at almost the same time. Great minds think alike lolI dont think this necessarily means no OBJ. Reality is he's gonna miss most if not all of next year.
What this might mean is Woods becomes trade bait? IDK but this sure makes things interesting.
Add Gilmore, Douglas, Bradbury or Wagner and we are cookingGeez now if Snead can get Hunter this will be another big splash season. This team will be completely reloaded.
From a team perspective, I think doing that to Woods would really damage the culture. He is the emotional heart of that offense - you could see that during the playoffs. The moments between he and Coop were really special.IMO this probably means Woods is going to be released. Releasing Woods would clear the way cap wise for Robinson.
OBJ is injury prone and won't be able to play until November or December.
Robinson brings good length and speed, with a proven record of performance. This will insure the Rams are completely 3 deep at WR. Kupp, Jefferson and Robinson would be a deadly trio.
As soon as we lost Miller I thought this would be our route. Gotta believe Stafford is even better in his second year in the system. Give him the tools to score 40 a game.My guess says that the Rams maybe are seeing that the defense will see a slight downgrade so why not upgrade this shit out of our offense just in case.
Or Van Jefferson might get moved for a decent pick. They may have observed that he has limitations and may try to get something for him now.
They don’t think they can rely on Skowronek or Harris and a possible rookie TE. The SuperBowl window is still open for a few years and it is wayyyyy to risky to count on a seventh round receiver, a 4th round raw athlete and a rookie TE.Wow, one thing is for sure with Snead... he will fucking blow your mind at least once every offseason. I would think this definitely means someone is gone at some point. Who's it going to be?
Kupp - duh not it
Woods - can save $10-13 million in cap with post 6/1 cut or trade respectively but is heart and soul of team
Jefferson - Can easily be traded or released on rookie contract. Is nice player but Robinson is the exact kind of receiver VJ has shown to not be which is physical. But still young and might get better.
Skowronek - 7th round special teams guy that's nice for extreme depth but no big loss if cut
Tutu - would be waste of a 2nd rounder but can't see them giving up on him yet.
Harris - oozes potential but that's all it is so far
OBJ - Isn't going to count much being injured most of the year so would be easy to keep around another playoff run or pass on.
Powell - special teams ace... would like to keep him because he was a stud doing that and no one else has come close for us in years.
Man, nothing like throwing a little more drama into the mix lol. Robinson is the exact kind of player Stafford thrives throwing to though. Physical receiver who'll attack the ball when Stafford lobs it up to him. That's something VJ has not been good at when given the chance.
In the pre free agency article Jourdan wrote something about the Rams are hanging onto there plan of having Kupp, Woods, and OBJ on the offense all at the same time in 2022. So trading Woods was never the plan as some had assumed.Something tells me it’s woods.
Disagree. Culture of the Rams isn't kumbaya campfire songs. It's guys producing for the team. If you're not producing you're gone. From a team perspective, I think doing that to Woods would really damage the culture. He is the emotional heart of that offense - you could see that during the playoffs. The moments between he and Coop were really special.
Very interesting but Snead is a sneaky bastard that no one seems to be able to predict. I think he takes pride in that.I like Allen Robinson a lot, but completely unexpected.
Goodbye OBj? Robinson has always been a stud.
Perhaps Rams are sending Van Jefferson to Minnesota for Hunter?
