Okay, I'll admit it... I wanted the Rams to make a trade.

I'm a sports fan. I like shiny new toys and the hope that they bring. I also like instant gratification, which a trade for an established player can provide.

But, in the end, you have to be smart about these things. I'm sure that, as much as the Rams tried, they didn't find a deal that made sense to them. Could they have offered more to get CMC or Brian Burns? I suppose. But there has to be a limit to what you spend - particularly in a season like this one, in which injuries have all but removed hopes of a championship run.

So, here's the bright side... draftniks still have second and third round picks to scout for! We can dream about OL, EDGE rushers and RBs on rookie contracts, making their mark in 2023.

I didn't really want a trade anyway. Really. I didn't. Trades suck.

(Anyone buying this?)

I am still hoping something is out there waiting to be announced.

But yeah, if there is nothing I will have a set of blue balls not unlike high school André had all the time. And that is a looooong time ago.

I'm still holding out hopes Rams made a trade at last minute and it hasn't been announced yet...

Maybe Cam had a heart to heart with McVay and assured him he's on board from here on out or they really like Kyren Williams. I wouldn't think unless they've given up on the season you put all your trust in a injury prone RB like Henderson.

OK, so even with no trade acquisitions to improve ourselves this year, come the 2023 draft, those future 2024 picks will still be in a very strong position for trade movement.

I could have sworn I heard mcvay say they are always looking to improve the team. Well plenty of players that were traded could have helped them.

It seems McVay and Snead got paid so they are taking a year off. Shrug

Standing pat this year it seems. 3-4, no need to go “all-in” when we struggle to score touchdowns.

Not something that comes to mind with McVay and Snead, IMO.

McVay oozes competition and intensity, to the point I was worried he'd retire.

If there was a trade that made them a legit contender, I'd be all for it. But there really was no trade that could do that for us. Too many core players are entering their 30's or already there next season. Not to mention the free agents next offseason.

We're gonna need some replacements when the post Aaron Donald era comes. And the post Cooper Kupp era. And a few others. The ones you draft will need a couple years. Odds are, a rookie class is not gonna make an immediate impact.

We need to switch from all in to accumulating more picks. If this year continues the way its been the Lions will be getting a mid first round pick instead of late first round. If next year is more of the same or worse, we will be getting a higher pick for the first time in 2024. As long as Snead doesn't give them up.

I don't think our roster is at the point where one key player is the missing piece like Von Miller was.

Nope. Definitely sour grapes. Guess we've given up on contending this year.

No trade is going to make us a contender this year. First year under McVay that frankly they're just not a good team. Thier offense stinks. Reassess in the spring and see what you have.
