Normally it's the final game in Preseason, though, not the first.

Normally the 3rd preseason game is usually "dress rehearsal", games 1-2 build up to that and the 4th the staters sit out. Now there's only 3 games so that might change some things, and not every team adheres to those norms.

The link provided at the top says that the starters will probably play a quarter.

Actually it is the first game they play a series or 2. Then it was The 3rd game of the 4.Teams would play starters a qrt or half. — not agruing,but I did here that Goff was going to play.

still never understand 2019 preseason.Mcvay is still hold to his guns & respect him as a HC. Think he does an excellent job keeping players healthy & rested.Sitting players is the least of the Rams
Worries.

1. Jared Goff era begins
The Lions have a new quarterback running the show for the first time since 2008 in Goff, who came to Detroit after the team sent Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams for Goff and two first-round picks.
This is a new system with a lot of different moving parts, and the important thing is to just see some efficiency -- Move the football, notch some first downs and get quality reps in, which Campbell said Wednesday could amount to around 12 to 15 plays for the starters.
Among all quarterbacks having at least 20 games with a 100.0 passer rating since 2016, Goff's .852 winning percentage trails only Tom Brady (.925) and Dak Prescott (.912). It's that kind of efficiency coaches want to see with Goff in his limited reps tonight.
