I hope these shine too in time!Problem with that calculus is the two gifts that Simpson provides and what separates him from the pack is his ability to process plays, anticipate the opening in addition to his leadership ability.

Absolutely he's improved. We all saw him knock out a solid full season at RT last year. And, I'm sure he'd do much better than the 3 sacks in a half two years ago at LT going forward. He just seems to have found a home over there at RT, so as another poster said, why move him to LT and possibly create two problems having to also replace RT?I believe you that he was very bad that game. However, he wasn't ready to start at RT then either. Could it be that he's improved, overall?
I think it's a question of starters' health.WR depth is looking decent
Totally agree with this, that's why I said just "decent."I think it's a question of starters' health.
If Nacua and Adams can play 17 regular season games, the Rams' WR-depth is excellent because Mumpfield, Daniels and Whittington will truly be back-ups.
If Nacua and/or Adams miss significant time, the WR-depth is lacking unless and until one (or more) of those young wide receivers prove themselves to be capable of significant roles.
Injuries ... OF COURSE ... are a critical factor for the success of any playoff-caliber-team but the Rams ... although loaded ... are (in my opinion) paper-thin at Left Tackle, Wide Receiver and Quarterback.
I definitely agree with being paper-thin at LT. I'm not as concerned about the other two positions.I think it's a question of starters' health.

Where did you hear that he's not playing outside?Totally agree with this, that's why I said just "decent."
And while CJ is shining it seems like he may only have function as a big slot and perhaps not the speed nor cutting ability to play outside (at least regularly).
If observers have diff info drop it here.Where did you hear that he's not playing outside?

Atkins in his interview yesterday (I posted here) discussed WR depth and when mentioning who would back up Nacua and Davante or just play outside specifically mentioned that he believed CJs role would be big slot.
He could be wrong, the context may not be there but until I see or hear otherwise Nate seems like a pretty definitive source.
And given CJs limitations at WR it makes sense. Would love it if he could offer some Z flexibility though. He'd be nothing more than a sacrificial X in my opinion.
I can attest to that !!!Just based on comments from all three players, between Mumpfield last year and now Daniels, would seem that Adams is a good mentor to young receivers ... they seek him out; and he responds well.
Similar to the Mentor Role @RamFan503 provides . When I am unsure what to do, I seek his opinion ... then

I think he was agreeing on whit and mump when it was May who said they'd be the backups there.I listened to that interview you posted WCR. He definitely said CJ was going to be "more of your big slot type". He also said if Puka goes down, probably Whittington backs him up and Mumfield backs up Devante.
All that sounds valid. I'm not taking from any of it that CJ can't play outside. I too hope that he offers some Z flexibility. I think he should be able to.If observers have diff info drop it here.

Will be interesting to see if he plays in preseason or not.All that sounds valid. I'm not taking from any of it that CJ can't play outside. I too hope that he offers some Z flexibility. I think he should be able to.
He does. I have been following all of this with interest. So far, Simpson and CJ are living up to the evidence I wrote up about themAll that sounds valid. I'm not taking from any of it that CJ can't play outside. I too hope that he offers some Z flexibility. I think he should be able to.
Per Nate, it sounds like if Stafford is down for any amount of time, Rams will come calling for Jimmy. And sounds like their initial plan was to have Jimmy at 2 and Simpson at 3 before Jimmy went all Imma retire on them.Looks like Stetson has a firm grip on QB2 for this Season. Has really improved. This is great news for us.
1. We dont have to fish out Garoppolo out of desperation.
2. We dont have to "throw into a game" Simpson before he is ready out of desperation.
And this is the reasoning I was using when some were DEMANDING Simpson make QB2 THIS year, else he's a bust, the fact that we had no idea what Stetson Bennett WAS back in April. Had he continued his improvement and taken a step up, which he apparently HAS, he should easily beat out the kid for QB2.
The best plan was for Simpson to not even take a single SNAP this Season.
