Well, they obviously didn't want him bad enough that they put him at risk. I mean they wouldnt waive/injure a high draft pick. And its not like people weren't aware of Lampkin. There were a lot of Twitter accounts raving about him. Guys like Baldy and PFF were highlighting his preseason tape. So they should have known that he could get claimed.
So the Rams must have had doubts about his size at the very least.

I was going with him first, but then when I saw he wore two different numbers I went with a different legendary Ram. HJ might be the most underrated great WR.
