Yeah but I still remember the 70s when the Vikings would get so lucky to beat us in the playoffs.
That was because they played in Bloomington and there was no roof on the place. That & Francis Asbury Tarkenton was better then any Quarterback that Chuck Knox & company rolled out there.

I was a kid in the 70s in LA and yeah, really didn’t like the Vikes much back then.
The irony in 1978 when Carroll Rosenbloom replaced Chuck Knox with George Allen, one of the reasons was Allen's record against Dallas, however, Knox had beaten Dallas in 1976 in Dallas, so in post season, Knox was 1-2 against the Cowboys, whereas, he was 0-3 against Minnesota and Allen was also 0-3 against the Vikings in post season, losing in 1969 (Rams), 1973 (Redskins) & 1976 (Redskins).

For the life of me, I cannot believe a reporter did not ask Rosenbloom why he replaced Knox, who struggles in post season, with a Coach, that had a worst record in post season, including being 0-3 vs Minnesota.

Poor Breece, very deserving of the contract, but under Aaron Glenn the Jets will continue to struggle. I look for the Jets to hire a new Head Coach in 2027 and that guy will be Sean McDermott.
I'm surprised he didnt force his way out of there. Pretty rich contract for him, I guess money ultimately talks

And then we had the rainstorm from hell in 1977 when I was positive we were going to the superbowl that year.

I would take Moore in a heartbeat but would he sign with us knowing Lake is the dude in that role? Probably not. So only way he'd fit is if they planned on using Lake as a hybrid type, where they stay in that look for the most part and use him as a safety or LB depending on call.

Yeah, good point.
Doug Krikorian and Bob Oates were the Rams beat writers back then for the Herald Examiner and LA Times respectively.
Where's all of the tough questions when they need to be asked ???

Now granted I turned 12 back in September of 1978, but when the Rams were moving on from Knox, I wanted Bill Walsh because of his offense and felt the Rams needed an offensive type Head Coach.

They interviewed several including Walsh, Don Coryell & Dan Reeves of the Cowboys, but in the end Rosenbloom went with Allen because of his regular season record. Both GM Don Klosterman & Carroll's son Steve Rosenbloom were against the Allen hiring and campaigned for Dan Reeves because Reeves would bring in the Cowboy offense, but in the end Carroll sited the fact that Allen won games, albeit his post season record at that time was worse then Knox, who was fired because of his lack of post season success.

After that decision and then firing George Allen after only two preseason games, Rosenbloom shared with his wife Georgia, his biggest mistake was letting Chuck Knox go and thus is the reason that Georgia brought back Knox in 1992, when John Shaw had recommended hiring Mike Holmgren.
