If they hadn't rushed in to get Landman locked up they would be nicely positioned to add Lloyd now. Ah well. It's a nice ILB class so maybe we come out of the draft with an upgrade.
I agree it was a little bit of a rush. His play after the contract seemed to go noticably down hill. Some mentioned a possible injury. We shall see. I think he overrunning some plays.

I didn't see a shift in his playing abilities. I think as fans we have to remember other teams adjust and get paid as well. We also didn't have the easiest schedule in the NFL, played all the top RBs and still finished 1st in defensive Run grade until week 13, and finished the season with the 2nd best run grade per PFF.

Where it shifted was teams attacking the Middle of the Field on 2nd and 3rd downs. Let's face it, Landman is who he is, and it's not a coverage LB. If anyone expected him to play better in coverage they weren't paying attention when the Rams traded for him. It's always been his weak spot and will always be.

I expect the Rams to fix that this offseason, I don't think Landman will be an every down LB this year, I would expect him to come off the field on 3rd and Longs or obvious passing downs.

I agree with you. And they didn't pay him as if he was a coverage LB.

It's hilarious when people suggest just plugging in Lloyd for Landman. Um....did you not realize that Lloyd was double the cost?

You can’t blame the Rams. Landman looked like the 2nd coming of Ray Lewis compared to the “traffic cone” and the “speed bump”.
