I think that’s what most of us would like at this point. Once again, the Rams have done a masterful job in the offseason and made the upcoming draft potentially icing on the cake.

Wouldn’t it nullify the Ferguson pick? Just how many plays are you gonna dedicate to making the TE the primary option?

A trade back that nets Cooper Jr and one of Rodriguez/Ponds and I'm quite happy. All 3 of those guys would see the field this season for certain.

All it takes is one team. I believe it is a weak draft and there around 14 to 16 first round grades. So the Rams not desperate for anything are in a position where there should be a first round talent at 13 to make a move if a deal looks too good to pass up.
Not exactly. Teams will still want their guys. You'll just have to accept less compensation than you would in stronger years.
of course teams still want certain players, I mean they need to draft somebody right? If said players aren't worth trading up for what's the point. I don't believe that to be true but it can make it harder to trade back and accumulate draft picks.
That's not how they look at it. The compensation goes down, but there will still be teams trading up. 2013 is a perfect example. Weak draft at the top, but there were still a lot of first round trades. The weakness resulted in the teams trading down having to settle for substantially less compensation than they would in other years. For example, Miami traded #12 and #42 to Oakland for pick #3. According to the TVC, pick #3 has a value of 2200. #12 and #42 have a combined value of 1680.

Can’t go back that far. Things have changed in the last 13 years with how scouts value positions, players evaluated and rookie wages. Which draft chart are you referring to?

So this draft sucks and next year looks great. So some team is going to trade great draft assets to move up in a weak class.

I can go back that far. The rookie wage scale went into effect in 2011. Any changes to positional value aren't important when we're talking about pick values. And I used the traditional draft value chart---the one that was in use in 2013.
Even in weak drafts, teams will trade up for players they're targeting. If anything, there's greater incentive to do so. Where the draft's weakness hits you is in the compensation you can command.
Yeah, that's the thing. It's unlikely teams will trade premium picks in 2027 to move up this year. That's the downside of a weak draft. But teams will look to move up.
WE might move up. In fact, I think it's the right move. If you can add one ELITE player to a SB contender, you gotta consider it. Tate, Styles, Love, Reese, all have sky high potential, and would have significant impact.
I believe McVay is going to make sure he gets a new toy for the offense. He can get that with the R1.13 pick (Lemon, Tyson) or try to trade down a bit and get one (Boston, Cooper) + another R2 pick.

Jimmy Johnson’s trade chart (in use 2013) is pretty much irrelevant today, Rich Hill’s chart is now the accepted model. e.g. JJ gave the first overall pick a point value of 3000. Hill gives 1000 pts for first pick. So your TVC examples in previous post are outdated.
