I think you underestimate the intelligence of a lot of crap team's front offices with no QBs but I don't disagree with your logic.

I would have a hard time paying a wideout in today's league if he had so much as even a whiff of diva in him. Because then you pay him and it becomes a "I have to get the ball X amount per game" or "Why didn't they throw me the ball, that's why we lost" and when it's a position that is so well represented in every draft nowadays that is something I would not be willing to put up with.

Since I don't follow Dallas I have no idea whether Lamb is a diva. But only way I'd consider paying him is if I'm good on that front.

Good example would be Seattle and Metcalf. If I was them I'd be moving his overgrown baby ass at the trade deadline this year and letting another team deal with his shit, then draft a replacement who might have less talent but will be a ton cheaper while I try to solve QB.

Gotta keep the QB and pass rusher over the receiver. The Cowboys played well in the past with lesser receivers. Plus they moved on from a pretty good one in Amari Cooper. That may be an indication of what they value most.

Me, I’d pay Parsons and Lamb and let Prescott go. Way too inconsistent at quarterback for my liking, and they’d be better off getting a first round rookie.

Naturally, I want them to overpay Prescott and be forced to watch Lamb and Parsons walk.

Dak is 100% replaceable.

Finding a QB is not so easy. Even first round rookies bust. Dallas got lucky with Romo and Dak. I doubt they could do it again.

The top end of the WR market is too high right now. The value isn’t there at $30M/yr, just like the high end of the RB market got a year or so ago.

Put those dollars into multiple players, go with younger player contracts at WR if you can.

Dak has been working behind one of the best o-lines in football and has always had top flight WR.
He's decent, maybe even good. But with what they had had in Dallas, I'd say they could have easily performed as well with a Baker Mayfield, Gardner Minshew type and save 40 mill

I don’t think you really believe that. If Minshew, Baker, or Prescott were all free agents which one do you think signs the bigger contract? I’d put my money on Prescott.

Good Qbs are much harder to find than good receivers.

That’s a different question.
Daniel Jones got a bigger contract than Baker or Gardner, who would you rather have?
Spending 50-60 mill per year for a qb who isn’t top tier is just not a wise move. Dak has had plenty of chances but has never been the guy. Tony Romo 2.0

The problem is fear of having a bad season. Even though they know Dak is just a little more than a guy, he keeps the fans hopes up. Same with the other teams. They really dont have any other option that they know is an upgrade. The Rams timing was perfect and they had the big ass balls and jumped at the upgrade with Stafford. That just isnt there for Dallas so.....

Tony Romo 2.0 is better than Minshew, who is basically a backup. Mayfield is an enigma. He had a big dip in his career, which Dak never has. He may not have gotten it done in the playoffs, but I don’t put that all on him. That entire Dallas team played bad. I think Prescott is a good QB.

Well, that's the rub of it. I dont think Dak moves the needle any more than other guys, at least not to the tune of 50 mill per season. He has had the benefit of the best resources and now due to the salary he'll command, they wont be able to spend on those same resources he had. Cooper Rush for instance was 5-1 as a starter in Dak's absence. Alas, I think Dak is nothing more than an Andy Dalton type, good enough to win games but not good enough to put the team on his back

Dallas and San Francisco are in the same boat. Their quarterbacks are not elite but they'll have to pay them elite money. Sure, they can be pretty good if they have the offensive line, running backs and receivers. But they cannot make up for any shortcomings in those areas.

We might see Dak's play decline this year. The running back situation isn't good. The line isn't what it used to be. After Lamb they don't have much at receiver. Wouldn't be surprised if Dallas doesn't reach double digit win total.

Purdy still has high level skill talent around him, so he should be able to continue to play at a good level. At least on paper he has elite talent. But it sure looks like Deebo's best days are behind him. McCaffrey's at the age where heavily used backs start to decline. Kittle's 31 years old. Aiyuk might get signed eventually. But he might miss a few games before it happens. Its gonna be tough for them to repeat last year's performances.

Seriously though, I believe Trevor Lawrence played through multiple injuries last season.

I'm not saying Dak want get paid. I'm saying if it was my team I'd rather roll the dice getting a replacement. He doesn't do enough imo to win you games in the playoffs but that's just my 2 cents. That said when/if he hits free ageny he will get paid and possibly be the top paid QB. I'd wager the Raiders are the most likely to pay him.
