Eh, I thought the same thing about Josh Allen. The bigger issue is durability. If you could trust Richardson to stay healthy, you might be able to live with the inconsistencies as a passer, especially if he showed some growth.
Josh Allen also played in a down field throw offense where Richardson in a short throw sitch, look at Mertz 76% comp, Lagway 61%.
Still Allen remains an outlier

That's not accurate. Richardson was extremely aggressive in college. It's why he had a higher yards per completion average than Allen did. (In fact, Richardson was #1 among all P5 QBs in yards per completion in 2022.) Mertz is/was a checkdown artist. Regardless, nobody is disputing the accuracy is a problem. My point was that I understand why Indianapolis did what they did. They wanted their own Josh Allen. Unfortunately, they've not done much to help Richardson's development, and Richardson struggles to stay healthy.

Lol, what's the point? Maybe he'll come in and win a game or two and lose them the top draft pick again and screw them out of another QB?
Maybe Daboll thinks he can get a few wins and keep his job?

I think it may be the only way to get some Giants fans interested in going to the home games
The other part is that Jones has a 23mill injury clause in the deal so they'll protect him to protect their wallet

Best way to do that is keep Jones in and let him flounder lol.

Ok, that makes sense at least.
You're assuming Divto is any better. He might win a game on a qb change bounce but I doubt more than that.

this is what I'm hearing, it's not about tanking, every team in the league knows that tanking this year isn't even worth it given how bad the 1st round looks in the 2025 draft class

Yeah, there was basically a thread too on Lock that Giants got really spooked with how bad he looked in preseason (like couldn't read a base defense) so they don't want to embarrasse themselves with him when they know what they have with Devito (and he's a home town fav).

Just a shitshow top to bottom.
