@BonifayRam what do you think about your boy Brewer moving on to the Jags.

I'm a little PO'd by Chandler Brewer moving on. Isn't he the guy that held out because of covid and his cancer treatments? I understand why he did that, but you would think he might be a little appreciative because the Rams held on to him for 4 years. And he only had 4 starts last year. I guess the Rams didn't think they really needed him. Kind of surprised but, oh well.

Damn, I was hoping the Rams would take Hoyer as our back-up QB.

Yes, the vet back up QB's in FA have essentially all signed. I mean, the cupboard is extremely bare. This is even more suggestive that we might invest a high-ish pick on a QB, since we literally only have one under contract. And that one has been recently hurt.

I know everyone will be shocked by this, but Wolford and Perkins remain unsigned...:sick2:

I could see Perkins being our cheap 3rd QB, but don't want Wolford near the stadium.

I'd prefer an untested 5th round rookie to either of those guys. It doesn't matter that Stafford has been injured recently. If he goes down and Perkins or Wolford are the #1, we're doomed anyway. Rather give the reps to some kid who may be something down the road. Of course the head coach might not feel that way.

Corral's value is low with him possibly not being ready for OTAs with a new coach coming in. The guy has been exposed to the WCO gobbledeegook for a year now. Buy low, stick him on that depth chart, and get a one year shortcut on a nice prospect's development in the NFL. Then draft a QB midrounds.

Boom. QB depth chart rebuild complete.

Definitely worth exploring if he's healing up nicely and the price is right.

Matt Corral Injury News

Corral was taken in the third round of the 2022 draft with the 94th pick after the Panthers traded up with New England to get their guy.

His rookie year was a wash after Corral underwent Lisfranc surgery last September. He initially suffered the injury during the Panthers' second preseason game. He wound up playing in two preseason games in 2022, completing 10 of his 24 passes for 69 yards and no touchdowns.

New Carolina head coach Frank Reich was asked about Corral's status late in February and indicated to reporters that the QB may not be ready for OTAs late in the spring.

Will Matt Corral Be Ready By Training Camp?

Even if Corral ends up missing OTAs, that would not necessarily rule him out of being ready for the beginning of training camp. With Sam Darnold a free agent, the top two quarterbacks on the Panthers are currently Corral and P.J. Walker.

That puts Corral in line to compete for the starting job heading into the 2023 season if the Panthers surprise this offseason and don't bolster the quarterback position (although they are unlikely to ignore the position completely).

Corral has at least one fan in Alabama EDGE rusher Will Anderson Jr., who had high praise for the former Ole Miss QB after he was asked who the top signal-callers he faced in the SEC were.

The recovery from Lisfranc surgery can take up to a year, which means that Corral isn't necessarily behind in his rehab and could still be ready for the start of training camp. At this point in the offseason, the Panthers don't have to reveal anything about his injury but the situation should become clearer as training camp draws closer.

I've considered that option, and I'd be a fan. Corral was once rated as a late first round pick, but he slipped to the second (along with Malik Willis and Sam Howell. Hell if I know why they slipped; they should've been much higher than they were.), but I'd be fine with him learning under Stafford.

His college highlights don't even impress me.

Go draft Tune or O'Connell. Get an extra yr on a rookie deal and frankly maybe you have more upside and under contract for 4 yrs vs 3.
Corral would be a good pickup.....cheap too. Get him AND draft one of the rookies.

I would rather not give up a pick outside of a 7th. Give me a rookie with a full 4 yrs on his contract.

I like the idea of Tune or OConnell but I don't think they have Corral's upside.

Reason I like him is because even though his offense wasn't pro style it had him routinely making quick decisions of successive reads and he handled it really well. And he's a tough and competitive sumbish. Type of dude who will party with the linemen.

But anyway not trying to convince you, just hoping they consider him and I'd like to see Tune or another QB added on top of that for a completely reloaded room.
