We have enough future cap for both. RBs don't hit the CAP as hard as other positions at the moment. RB market going to be flooded next year too so there will be some movement there. I'd only want the Rams to case after Taylor if its a fair deal which I'd love to see happen, but don't think will. A stud like him would make our offense even better though do it's fun to dream at the moment

Well he got paid and even got a no tag clause to attempt to get another nice payday in FA next year. Saquon should learn from this guy.

He very well may and he's better than Cam as well. All backs seem to break down these days and it all in the legs. I'd just hate to see us pay him huge money and it's Gurley 2.0. I'm fully on the draft backs and cycle through them train.

Sounds like things are getting pretty bad there in Indy. Would I love Taylor? Absolutely, especially with minimal trade capital. 3rd or 4th?

Gurley had issues in Georgia with his knees and there was more than several red flags there. Taylor has had minor surgery to his ankle which has a better chance of recovery and no future injuries regarding the same areas.


That all said, the amount of ridiculous backs coming out next year is crazy. Just the top 6 alone are nuts!

This is nothing compared to what he wants to be paid. There were reports in the off season he wanted at least 18 million a year. I doubt he gets it but that to him is his market.

Totally agree that he wanted more for sure but it's a smart move to take 17 mill for one year while also ensuring he hits FA. If he plays well, he's gonna get paid pretty well.

Only concern I have with Taylor is he has some high mileage. So I wonder how much he has left.

But outside that he is a stud. He can flip the field so McVay would play him. He is WCO savvy. Guy fits us no doubt about it.

Of course we won't get him. But it won't be due to lack of interest.

I've said this in other threads but yeah Bears are the perfect landing spot for any of the big name RBs wanting a second contract whether its Taylor, Jacobs, Barkley, etc. As you said that's if Bears would loosen the purse strings.

But a team with a ton of cap room still during training camp would be perfect for a big name RB. You could front load the contract so there's no long term risk. Run them dry over the next couple of years and if they last longer than that good and if not (or they demand more money) dump their ass after a couple years and move on. If my team had cap room still I'd have no problem dumping money into a stud RB for a few years as long as it doesn't cause long term issues.

IF the Bears want to help Justin Fields take the next step, they should consider something like this. There is a lot riding on Justin Fields.
